I sincerely hope that older members of the squad that through Bannigan under the bus are themselves cast aside fairly quickly. The few I have heard named only have a year left in them at most, so I'd start with the future. Will they be willing to play the role that Aidan O'Shea or Cillian O'Connor played this year, or do they still they thay are the Kobe McDonalds and Daragh Beirnes of the team? Seems to be an agenda on here and in the media around GB. Darent say a bad word or make a valid point about this years league or you'll be banned. MonaghanMan44life (Monaghan) - Posts: 264 - 04/09/2026 18:43:43 2692772 Link 0 |

Unfortunately GBs fate was sealed that day V Galway with his choice of substitutions at half time…

Was more than older players than wanted him out but the county board didn't want to hurt his feelings so just told him it was his older players

Listened to GB interview. Think he was right to speak out when he left initially but this is now getting unseemly and it doesn't look good for him or monaghan football. Sport like life can be unfair and we dont all want to give vent to tabloid sports media about it. It doesn't sound like he had the backing of senior players from day 1 and probably was on borrowed time after louth defeat at best for year ahead. Monaghan if they had the best 15-22 players available for selection in the county are a match for any side in the country but for some reason GB wasnt able to foster that support in the county. No doubt a decent honest man who did his best but was his best good enough ? The exit and nature of display v louth would suggest not treatment of the sub keeoer also.. People will speak of injuries no options around the middle but why was that not addressed earlier instead relying on just one recognised midfielder all year. It was a wide open year for gaelic foitball there were a lot of suprise winners and while we played well in parts we missed the boat in ulster final v winnable game and on big day in croke park again where we failed to show up v 14 men louth. Thats not even mentioning the complete submission by GB of our div 1 status after a few matches which could well see us ending up in tailtenn cup next year if div 2 turns out badly. So GB departing is not that surprising however the nature of his exit and the messy he said she said nonsence now in the media is. seanie08 (Monaghan) - Posts: 2030 - 05/09/2026 09:39:51 2692804 Link 1 |

Quite the game in Inniskeen this afternoon. Grattans up by 11 points for a lot of the second half but beaten by their own complacency. Cruise control is a dangerous setting. TearsIn85 (Monaghan) - Posts: 226 - 05/09/2026 17:06:38 2692836 Link 0 |

Not too much panic in Inniskeen given the stakes. Great game of football though. Carrick have the forwards to do a bit of damage later in the championship.

Their should be it realistically puts them into scotstown side of the draw. They would have been looking at another final

Embarrassing from Corduff last night, can't remember a hammering like that in Senior Championship. Like what you would see in U12. What has happened them since last year? Has to be more than just a few lads not playing this year. They will be relegated easily based on that. Monaghansclown (Monaghan) - Posts: 204 - 06/09/2026 11:27:00 2692873 Link 0 |

Surely after last night the main cheerleader for expanding senior to 12 teams must be regretting this.. turkey shoots like last night will be common place in senior and intermediate next year… this expansion was to improve the county set up lol

No good getting to a final if you don't win it. Would rather meet Scotstown in a semi-final than final.

Exactly. Scotstown will finish top now and inniskeen have to win to come 2nd. They lose and will have a quarter to play before playing Scotstown again in a semi. Going by yesterday Scotstown will have a serious off day. Conceding 30 points in 3 games in remarkable in the new rules

Tried telling yas about Magheracloone lads. League legends that have nothing come championship time unless they unearth better forwards in the future. Cannot believe somebody had them 3rd in the power rankings.

Yea, we might score 1 point the next time we play Cavan. Lads need to cop on.
