This years Minor captain Eoin Gannon from Breathnachs named to start for Connaught u18s in rugby today v Ulster....let's hope we don't lose him to rugby like the lad from Spideal. He was the standout player at u17 this season and has the potential to progress quickly to Adult football. WonTon5 (Galway) - Posts: 173 - 29/08/2026 13:08:21 2691805 Link 0 |

The stand out duel minor of the last 3 years Walsh already a senior player for Connacht rugby , a bigger loss physically and ability wise of all.

Yes, forgot about him. Speaking of which just listening to the Glenamaddy game v An Spideal and Farthing sounds like he had a super game, probably not what we are lacking in Galway at the minute, we have good full back and corner back options but again he might be worth looking at.

And if we do the best of luck to him He has played rugby from a young age as well and can make a career from it unlike GAA.Amd like Tomas Farthing if it doesn't work out he can always come back. Alwaysencourage (Galway) - Posts: 632 - 29/08/2026 18:00:58 2691854 Link 1 |

Belclare, are pulling our legs! He is a corner forward. You've some keepers there, Power, Healy, Odhran Burke and now Canney ahead of them.

Poor enough fare in the Tuam double header yesterday. Moycullen against Monivea was men against boys. Fiachra McDonagh, Niall Walsh, Ger Davoren and Sean O'Connor very good for Moycullen. Their only weak spot is the full back line. They got caught for pace back there a couple of times and conceded 0-19 against a side that wouldn't possess a quarter of the attacking potential of a Corofin or Salthill. Sean Kelly played at centre back (scored a great goal) but I reckon he will have to go back to full back when it comes to a semi final or final. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 1111 - 30/08/2026 11:02:32 2691914 Link 1 |

They were well beaten by Oughterard in the end, in a game they were favourites for. Very fine margins overall though. Should have closed out the Annaghdown match and a one point loss today. Annaghdown topped the group unbeaten, which very few would have predicted at the start. It was a very competitive group. The other 3 groups had the favourite finish top comfortably. Tuam now have a preliminary quarter to play, while the other 3 favourites will sit out that weekend. Might be what they need to find some form. Their performances haven't matched the pre-championship expectations for them. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 3030 - 30/08/2026 22:04:12 2692027 Link 2 |

GALWAY minor footballer Eoin Gannon has been included in the Connacht U18 Rugby squad to face Ulster this afternoon. Meanwhile, Galway U20 footballer Cian Hynes is named on the Connacht U19 Rugby squad. Marooned (Galway) - Posts: 2569 - 30/08/2026 23:54:10 2692045 Link 1 |

Thought St James were extremely unlucky not to win it today. Wasn't at the Oughterard v Annadown match. I think the midfield is where Moycullen are weakest, kick outs or accurate either. Gearoid1998ffowaed (Galway) - Posts: 229 - 31/08/2026 01:26:26 2692048 Link 1 |

To be fair Moycullen and Salthill had easy groups bar maybe Dunmore for Moycullen, as for Corofin they had a tough group with Claregalway and mountbellew and kallannin who were only a kick of a ball from a semi final last year but with all the lads away for the first game they never got going at all, hard to look past Moycullen unfortunately they are looking really strong

I'd personally put SK and Corofin ahead of Moycullen. Itll be one of the three anyways. Anyone any other picks? I genuinely cant fathom anyone outside those 3 winning it. Seniorleague (Galway) - Posts: 318 - 31/08/2026 12:15:25 2692104 Link 1 |

Would be nice to see rural clubs avoiding the drop also, of course.
