Jack is a great manager but just can't do back to back. Will he stay around now or walk away with what he has Jack L (None) - Posts: 3241 - 26/07/2026 19:29:20 2687262 Link 1 |

Proper counties outside of their home league ground at the business end of the championship take defeat like men. Full credit to Mayo. Deserving winners. Kerry admittedly were fortunate to draw Armagh in Killarney. Travelling to Armagh would have been a different proposition. Tyrone - Mayo was a 50-50 game. Tyrone - Kerry was a 50-50 game. Mayo's day. Fully deserved. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 10011 - 26/07/2026 19:40:44 2687273 Link 0 |

Kerry were stuck to the ground. Unusual for them in an All Ireland final. They never came to terms with Mayo's intensity. Mayo could have won by 7/8 points.

Id say he'll go. Great man and not as abrasive as he comes across sometimes in post match. He owes them nothing. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 4514 - 26/07/2026 20:29:23 2687302 Link 0 |

Any manager would struggle to get the fire in the belly of Kerry today compared to Mayo. leitrim4sam (Leitrim) - Posts: 741 - 26/07/2026 20:54:49 2687315 Link 1 |

He'll stay and win one more and then leave.

Cannot compare. New rules different ball game. The advantage of winning Provincial titles now is far less. All Ireland Series is now more open where teams can go under the radar early on and if they peak at the correct time can get over the line. Well done Mayo.

You'd be fairly sick down in Killarney tonight. And if you were sitting in a bar in Omagh or Boyle... Jack will probably step down and let the Star take the reins, that was a game that Kerry should have been won and they all know it. That's right. Different ballgame now. With all the matches to be played, likely to produce a different winner each year. Kerry ran out of juice today and Mayo had all the freshness and energy.

Id say it was an excellent game and you can't begrudge mayo, but what I've heard of Kerry, JOC will be keel hauled and sacked off in the next week or two. Paudi knew the craic gaelsboy (Leitrim) - Posts: 812 - 26/07/2026 22:29:22 2687361 Link 1 |

If lads can't get riled up for an All Ireland final, you'd wonder what they're doing there in the first place. When Kerry got moving there was lots of space but they'd no killer instinct to kick more 2 pointers earlier in the game. And that's what won Mayo the game today. I think Clifford got their first one 60 min in... and I think Mayo had 3 by that stage. The new game will be won & lost on 2 pointers.

How are they the "better team, better players"? They are not. The Cliffords stopped them being hammered out the gate today. Caught today by another better team as they were in 2023 and 2024. Mayo would have beaten Dublin too if we had gotten to final. So not bigging Dublin up. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 4514 - 26/07/2026 22:44:43 2687367 Link 0 |

John Kiely did 4 in a row and has 6 since 2018, so he's had no issue keeping the lads hungry either.

Certainly and it will be back to the yerra talk from all Kerry people in the media from now on. The way Mayo was getting wrote off was ridiculous pure music to their years. For all the experience on the sideline for Kerry with Jack, the star Cian O'Neill that was very poor game management down the stretch. Going and focusing on one two pointer instead of going for a pair of one pointers as they had time and possession to do it. Drax_the_destroyer (UK) - Posts: 951 - 26/07/2026 23:37:21 2687382 Link 1 |
