Oh someone wrote a song about Andy Moran. Jeez the players and management should really stop what random eejits do. The trolls on here are painful. Same 5 or 6 raging that Mayo have ended up in a semi final unexpectedly.

There is a lot of lazy analysis on Mayo as usual in the build up to this. Just listening to some podcasts, they all seem to think bar the O'Connors and O'Se on the panel this is a new Mayo team….same as Louth.

Well let's take an actual look, Ryan O Donoughue, Conor Loftus, Tommy Conroy, Matthew Ruane, Stephen Coen, Jordan Flynn, Enda Hession (sub) all played in the 2021 final…Coen, Loftus Durkan have obviously played in multiple semi finals and finals.

Does any of this matter? Maybe not, but experience of the big days does count. It's a carbon copy of the build up and feeling before the Cork Game. Bookies have Mayo has slight favs but the vast majority of the pundits are going for Louth. Let's see what happens….

Yes I've listened to a good few podcasts and it's very much slim pickings in terms of who's tipping Mayo to win.

Colm Parkinson and dick clerkin the only ones I heard. Tomas O Sé, Fenton, Aaron Kernan, Brendan devenny, Pat spillanne, Michael Verney and a few others went for louth.

A general theme is people constantly referencing Mayo's up and down form during the championship. However, louth got destroyed by Dublin in Leinster only scoring 0-10 and were blessed to beat Armagh with a last second goal. Yet apparently Mayo's 5 point win over Cork was lucky??

Of course people are also pointing out that we had a lucky draw with Monaghan the only division 1 team we beat.. surely recent years have shown how well division 2 sides have done in championship and we knocked out Meath and Cork?

I'm sure it'll be a close game either way of course.

They weren't blessed to beat Armagh. They stuck at it to the end when some other teams would have wilted and quit. They made their own luck. Been a feature of a lot of Louth performances in recent years and we'll know all about it on Saturday evening.

Over the last 20 or so years I'd fancy them to
Win this … winning all Ireland semi finals has never been the issue for mayo !

The punditry about Mayo has been lazy and not much credit being given to them, but it suits Mayo not having media talk them up.
The inconsistent performances does make it tough to analyse Mayo though.
Majority of people expecting a Louth win so its a great way for Mayo to be going into this semi final.
Louth are a better team than Cork, I thought Mayo did well with the advantage Cork had physically, Louth will also have this advantage but they have alot more scoring threats than Cork.
McHugh will probably be asked to do same marking job on Mulroy as he did with Sherlock. I can see Louth using the high ball into full forward line, and McBrien will needed back there.
Just hope the forwards can all click again and step up another level and kick Mayo into a final.

Two things annoy me with sport and its very much in the GAA, 1. having a 2/3/4 year plan and 2. A team deserves a win or deserves luck.
GAA is all about the now, you dont know what will happen next year or next month even, when your in it you have to take your chance.
You make your own luck, no one deserves anything in sport. Always here from people Mayo deserve an All-Ireland and its such bull.

Really hope Andy is saying one thing to the media (the 3 year plan) but all about the now with the team.
David Brady gets on media cause of the daft comments, for a Mayo person saying you need to lose one to win one is ridiculous. Not to have a dig on Galway (maybe a bit) but didnt do them any good losing a final.

People talk about a 2/3 year plan because sometimes in year one a coach needs that time to implement all his changes and it can take the group a few months to adjust. But within the group they are not using a year 1 as a handy adjustment year. But there is pressure off the manager in year one to a certain degree.

But this Mayo group know there are no guarantees and this might be their only chance of making a final under Andy Moran. I keep going back to Donegal. Jim would have had a 3 year plan same as his first tenure with year 2 as peak and winning Sam. They are now a unsure of where they are at. Mayo have a massive chance to make a final and I think they will take it. And will be underdogs in the final should they reach it. Let's see what happens .

Very true. If Jim had brought Murphy in a year earlier they would probably have got to the final and most likely beaten Armagh in the final on that first year. They are spent energetically now. You cannot wait for opportunities.

Its because the finals are so bad, people think that the semi results are great.
