Great to see the team travelling around the county together with the trophy. Hopefully the tradition of planting it on some bar counter is consigned to the past.

Great occasion yesterday, fantastic performances all round, Shane Allen with a huge two pointer in the first half kept us in touch at a difficult moment in the game, bar a 10 minute spell after half time it was all one way traffic. A lot of knocks but hopefully nothing too serious, I wonder will we see Mattie Whittaker again, playing with a serious injury by all accounts and seemed to be in a lot of bother after the game as he was after Kildare. Could be a decision on him for McHugh to make for his long term benefit, Scahill hopefully wasn't too serious. Cusack will surely sell out now for Cavan, probably the game they need now to focus with the McCabe factor in play. Personally thought Sam McCartan could have picked up the MOTM again, but plenty of deserving candidates.

Still cannot believe what these lads have done, 4 games - 2 extra times against team in higher divisions (after the dejection of missing out on promotion and losing arguably 6/7 potential starting players) there is serious charater in this squad. The hard work is now paying off, the fitness levels are off the charts. Nobody is taken off until they are fully cramping. Super proud Westmeath man. Hopefully there is more to come this Summer then we can look back on one of the greatest years for football in Westmeath.

I can't believe all the tickets were sold in five minutes. Going to matches for years can't get one. County board should look after people who are going to games all year.

We always read into underage success as a sign for senior success these guys had no underage success of note which shows what can be achieved with belief and hard work to win that without luke loughlin is massive. hopefully we can add few more now with focus.

Once again well done to all squad and management on a brilliant Leinster Championship win.Amazing scenes and support in Croke park on sunday and later that evening in Mullingar. Now I would like to note and say get well soon to the lads who were there with the squad on sunday but unfortunately thru injury could not take part.Boidu Sayeh who came back into the fold and played like he was never away.Rock solid and even scored a memorable point against Limerick back in March.Jonathan Lynam also back in midfield and was surely going to play a huge part for Westmeath for the season.Jonathan scored 2 cracking goals against Sligo back in January and surely more was to come.Conor McCormack out thru and injured disc problem worked his way back to fitness only to last 8 minutes in 1/4 final against Meath.Conor got his leg broken in making that great save from McBride and save a certain goal-whos to know what the result would have been uf Meath had scored at that time..Brian Guerin who had performed very well in league last year and early part of this season and was looking to nail down a midfield spot. And finally the maestro-Luke Loughlin who along with David Clifford was probably the best forward in the country leading up the the Kildare game.Luke's ability and work rate is huge and to lose him at such a vital time could have spelt disaster for Westmeath. His ability to take on players and score 2 pointers and goals is second to none and would definately have been in All-Star conversations come seasons end.But fair play to the younger lads who came in and kept in and stood up when needed. Now on to all Ireland series with great hope for a successful campaign.

Likewise Mick...Myself and siblings all got ours. Crazy how time has moved on. I remember watching Limerick hosting Westmeath in a League game in Páirc Naomh Íde (Feohanagh) in the late 90s. There was just over 30 Westmeath fans travelled that day. How times have changed.

Supervalue still had loads at lunch time. Possibly sold out now. That's where I got mine. O'Briens apparently had some also. I am sure you'll get sorted.

I'm hoping the team can keep their heads on and get the win against Cavan, not an easy team to beat.
There's definitely no easy matches moving forward. hopefully the team can learn from the all Ireland series in 2004 where Westmeath were very flat against Derry in the quarter-finals.
They had the team and management to take an all Ireland that year but I feel they left in behind after the Leinster celebrations.

Best of luck in the next steps!

would they allow cash on the evening do you think? surely paper wont refuse ink, id imagine there be near 15,000 inside when ball is thrown. whats most it can take physically out of interest ? 14,500 in 2004 would that be the limit?

SuperValu were sold out at 1.20. No more tickets from the SuperValu beside Cusack. Centra had sold out even earlier

Massive congratulations to Mark McHugh, his management team and the panel of players on delivering our 2nd Leinster title in such impressive fashion. We did it the hard way but this was a huge team effort with 13 different scorers. I'm loathe to mention individuals but must mention Senan Baker who made a massive impact & made scoring look so easy despite the swirling breeze in Croker on Sunday. All the lads were superb, such a well drilled team & still so young with great potential. Hopefully we have not yet peaked and can closedown the camp in preparation for Cavan. It will be a very tough game, hopefully all the injuries clear up and the team can deliver another great performance for the wonderful Westmeath supporters.

I was in Newbridge when we won the o Byrne cup . Id say if there was 100 Westmeath people in attendance that was the limit. Huge interest builds when a team is winning
