Replying To Pope_Benedict:  "PJ is on record since the Sligo game 2 years ago that Galway don't like playing early on Saturday afternoons. That seemed to be his primary excuse about a flatish performance that day, a game that Sligo almost won, except for a late Comer intervention. This Leitrim game is fixed for 3.30pm Saturday.....be afraid, be very afraid."
Galway will win pulling up let's be honest.

Was expecting Galway to play Roscommon in the Connnacht final at the start of the year but the rossies are without Dáire Cregg and none of their Brigids players are up to speed so it should be a Galway v Mayo once more and no better team to beat in the final to win 5 in a row.

Galway form is easy to pick holes in. Our most recent Championship game resulted in a handy enough win for then Div 2 Meath, who were hammered by around 20pts 2 weeks later by Donegal, who were themselves then hammered by Kerry. We were put the pin of our collar to beat, depleated 14 man Dublin in Salthill, a team who's current standing was exposed last Sunday. I expect us to get over Leitrim for sure, which assures us of being in the winners/runnersup pot for the draw. Apart from London last time we played them, it is a long time since Galway had a convincing win.

If we've 6 forwards on Saturday kicking better scores than Mulryan is tonight, we'll be in great shape.

U20's lose to Roscommon by a point. Led for most of the game but got absolutely wiped out on breaking ball in midfield. And it got worse the longer the game went on. Another disappointing year at that level.

One of the teams you seem to be expecting to expose Galway in the Connacht final, got a fair trimming from Galway when they met in championship last year

Galway play to their opposition. Bar that Roscommon game and a Derry gamesm they haven't beaten anyone overly comfortably, but at the same time it's 4 years now since anyone beat them by more than a point.

The form of anyone they'll meet in Connacht can be picked apart easily also. Anyone outside of Dublin/Kerry in fact

No real complaints the best team won and only wayward Roscommon shooting was keeping Galway in it.

It's a development grade a handful of these young lads should become established Seniors. Three all already with the Seniors, Coen,Mitchell very good tonight.

A handy win by a point? I could say we only lost to Meath by a point and Meath comfortably beat Kerry in last year's championship. The fact is we've been very competitive against anyone we've met in championship football for a number of years now. As was said, we haven't lost a game by more than a point since the All-Ireland final in 2022, and that game was level with 4 minutes of normal time left.
Even in this year's league, we clawed back some big deficits and at the same time threw away big leads. The form book says that most games we'll be involved in will be tight.

Actually thought Galway looked marginally the better team when midfield was relatively even in the first half. Were scoring a lot easier than Roscommon were. Problem was they were starved of possession in the second half. Couldn't win a breaking ball to save their lives. The weight of possession finally told even though the Roscommon goal that won the game was a bit jammy in that it was a point attempt that dropped short allowing the big sub to get a fist to the ball.

Any team news??

The squad named will be a great indicator as to the health/fitness of the squad.

I would expect to see any of the long term injuries at least on the bench if the have a hope of being involved in a Connacht goal should the result go as hoped.

So many rumours about lads being injured with limbs hanging off etc it reminds me of the undertaker in dad's army ..... we're doomed!

At this stage I take most with a pinch of salt.

The big sub murdered us, and we were cleaned on kickouts.

You would have to be disappointed with the output of the three lads in with the seniors.

Ross Coen is the best player on that team.

Agree on this, general play was an improvement on the Sligo & Mayo games and given Galway couldn't win a kickout the 2nd half it tells you Galway were the better team in most aspects of the game apart from kickouts.

The sloppiness which had been there for the previous 2 games had disappeared.

As for Mulryan, given what I've seen the past few weeks I'll be amazed if we don't see him this summer. He's kicked some brilliant points the last few weeks from both feet.

Thought Mulryan looked like the best forward on the pitch. Galway just couldn't get enough ball into him. Especially after half time. Mulhern very loose in possession.

PJ put O'Curraoin into championship in 2023 on the back of a strong U20 campaign. So could well see Mulryan feature this summer. Kickitout, is Glynn injured to your knowledge or is there another reason he isn't in your XV?

Mulhern has shown that he is physically not able for senior yet.
Loads of talent but he's getting horsed out of games easily - even last night with the 20s not to mind the seniors.
He needs to get stronger and eliminate the looseness in his play going forward.
