Replying To Viking66:  "How can a player have a contract with an Association?
And why should clubs get money because a player chooses to go to Australia? Noone at our club is coaching children expecting a profit. And we all know there's every chance they might not stay playing for the club as adults. Many don't.
If they get a hurling or football scholarship from a college should we demand a cut off them?
How about if they get a good job in Dublin? Or London? Or Germany? Or wherever? And move to a different club where they end up working. This happened to our club several times over the years. Lads who played for the club until they were young adults transferred to clubs in Dublin and London. Some were Senior intercounty players. We ended up getting relegated to Intermediate. Should we be paid a cut of their wages? Or a signing fee from the clubs they went to?
Absolutely we shouldn't.
Never heard such nonsense."
I see your being your usual positive self.

All professional athletes have agents - this is not new - no one was suggesting club players have agents or wages so im not sure what raving you are at.

If the GPA are the players agent - they negotiate a better deal and a fee - just like any professional agent.

All im saying is that is the only way to get something back - The GPA have plenty of employees and contractors working for them. Im not sure what your getting at about them being an association

Its not about demanding a cut of the young players - its about getting a better deal for them.
At the minute they use hearsay and solicitors to help - so they arent getting the best deal they can get. Especially in the womens game

Its was funny seeing so many Australians complaining and looking for compensation for Massimo De Lutiis when media reported the Irish rugby team were going to poach him. But GAA fans aren't aloud to complain when tour players are poached

If they arent happy with whatever they are offered they dont have to go.
I wasnt raving anyway, I was just pointing out that Id be delighted if a lad I coached got to make a living out of sport, and that I wouldn't want anything for it. Or feel that I deserved to get anything for it. Any of the lads Ive coached have been coached by other lads, at county level, within our own club, at school, and even in different sports altogether which when combined make them the young sportspeople that they are.
Should all those other organisations get paid also?

Which Australians were complaining and looking for compensation for de Lutiis, the Ireland qualified professional rugby player?
