Replying To gaa.88:  "I think the league competitions are great and every division has its own drama. So far in division one Donegal look the stand out team and Meath in division two. Looking forward to the Kerry v Dublin clash the weekend. Both teams are lucky they not sitting bottom of table at the moment."
The football league is great. Hurling has an established tiered championship. The football league is the football version, with a day out in Croke Park for the top two. Understandable that lower league counties were eager to tie the football league more to championship qualification.

Div 3:
Westmeath v Fermanagh. Westmeath will be looking to bounce back from the Down defeat to keep their promotion push on track.
Sligo v Limerick. Limerick had an important win over Wexford. A win this weekend will give them some optimism of challenging Westmeath.
Wexford v Down. Defeat for Wexford away to Limerick after a good start. Down fresh off getting past Westmeath will be looking to keep their momentum going to secure promotion.
Clare v Laois. Clare beat Fermanagh but look likely to be heading for the Tailteann Cup this year unless they pull off a shock in Munster. Clare's All Ireland group stage record was 9 losses from 9.

Div 4:
Carlow v Waterford. It'll be a shock if Carlow don't maintain their 100% record.
Wicklow v London...
Leitrim v Antrim...
Longford v Tipperary...
... Wicklow, Leitrim and Longford seem to be in a 3 way battle for the second promotion spot. All will need to win this weekend as the league reaches the halfway point.

Div 1:
Galway v Roscommon. Could go either way. Galway getting impressive results when missing quite a few. Roscommon have really set the cat amongst the pigeons in the race to stay in D1.
Dublin v Kerry. The expectation is obvious. Nothing more to be said.
Monaghan v Mayo. Mayo looking to bounce back. Monaghan need to land a win if they are to pull off one of their trademark great escapes.
Armagh v Donegal. Donegal looking to maintain their march to the final.

Div 2:
Derry v Offaly. Derry have got the winning feeling. Will look to keep it going in the push for promotion.
Louth v Tyrone...
Cork v Meath. Surprised by the good start by the beaten Munster semi finalists. This weekend should tell a lot more.
Cavan v Kildare...
... Tyrone and Kildare need wins to retain promotion hopes. Louth and Cavan looking to avoid the drop.

Iss moving weekend. Losing this week will be a big blow to a few teams

Donegal - win guarantees final pretty much
Roscommon - win puts Galway under pressure and keeps Roscommon safe at least
Mayo - a win put them in the mix for a final appearance
Galway - a realy "4 pointer" with Roscommon
Kerry - O connor will be after this one to put them in the mix for a final appearance
Armagh - need to pick up a win to ease relegation threat
Dublin - a loss to Kerry and the will be relegation fodder
Monaghan- have to win to give them any chance of staying up

Cork - take down meath and its promotion in the bag
Meath - as above if they beat Cork
Derry - a win and they are in the Promotion mix
Tyrone - really have to win if Div 1 football is wanted next year
Kildare - a win and they are safe
Louth - need to pull clear of relegation places
Cavan - a loss will be curtains
Offaly - as above

Donegal have secured Division 1. Mayo, Roscommon and Kerry probably need one more win to confirm.
Surprised Meath were beaten by the losing Munster semi finalists. More surprised by Tyrone's problems. Hard to see them gaining promotion from here.
Down and Carlow have also maintained their 100% records.

As Donegal haven't a Championship game for 4 weeks after League Final will Jimmy let his team go for it this year?

There's a Donegal poster who's been predicting Mayo to lose every game this year (again) over on the predictions thread. He's has because if he was right Mayo would be rock bottom on zero points.

Well, Jimmy McGuinness was critical of the gap between league finals and provincial championship. Croke Park responded by bringing in a rest weekend. The ball is in Jimmy McGuinness' court now. Will he be a hypocrite or not?

Why were you surprised with Cork beating Meath at home? Your own Kerry needed extra time to overcome Cork away in that Munster semi-final. Meath came into the game falling over the line against Louth and Cavan let's not forget.

On Tyrone they are struggling to get underage successful players to establish themselves at senior level, 0-13 on Sunday shows they are struggling to adjust to the new rules also.

A hypocrite? I'd be a bit sick of Kerry wans pontificating to Jimmy as to what he should and shouldn't do. The week gap was a ridiculous situation last year and it's all very well for you preaching from the comfort of your handy Munster championship. Donegal might start rotating more players or they might not. But that's Jim's prerogative after securing 8 points, just like it was Jack's choice to travel to ballyshannon with a weakened team.

Jimmy McGuinness got on his high horse complaining about provincial championships starting a week after the league finals, and rightly so. He was fully right.
Jimmy McGuinness talked the talk. GAA HQ responded by creating a free weekend after the league finals. Jimmy McGuinness must now walk the walk and lead Donegal to the league final. Any pulling up of the handbrake will be hypocrisy of the highest order.

Replying To brayballer:  "Donegal seem to get decisions alot from refs .Crazy red card ans their players gwt away with alot."
The game now in its new format is way way too fast for our referees and players are getting away with fouls now that previously resulted in yellow/blacks cards. Now when a team wishes to tap/go the referee hasn't time to issue cards. I watched the Donegal game yesterday and saw the Donegal 7 pull down an off the ball runner, no card and a few minutes later foot tripped Conaty, no card. On the second one Conaty played on and shot blocked by keeper but incredibly referee gave no advantage. The TG4 commentary which I couldn't fully understand called out the decisions as being questionable. I know most will say the game is better to watch but at the end of the day there is a rule book!

I'd imagine he'd say it was trying out all his panel.

Come off it! You think the GAA changed the calendar for Jim? As I said, he did what he felt was best for his panel last year and he'll walk whatever walk he wants to this year too depending on factors within the camp. Send on a link to Jim getting on his high horse about league finals there too sure because I think there's a bit of narrative twisting going here.

Id say he will do whatever he thinks best for his team.
Its ok for Kerry, you won't have a meaningful knockout championship game that you might lose until nearly July. Plenty of time for Jack to work on whatever he wants to work on.

Jack got on his high horse last year because media and some Kerry supporters critised Kerry for their displays before the Armagh championship match.
It didn't bother me in the slightest so don't you be getting annoyed by what Jim says.
