Footage shows clearly red card was the correct decision. Fans might be confused as Dublin get away with everything in croke park

Carlow - top of D4.
Wins over Antrim and Wicklow are a good start. If they can build on this impressive start, a day out in Croke Park for the D4 final will be on the cards. If they are taking a pragmatic approach on Tailteann prospects, making the Tailteann semi finals in Croke Park can also be on their radar at least.

How does the footage show that the decision was correct. What was the red card sanction for?

D2 is so exciting as teams strive to 'get in' to Sam.
Wouldn't it be so much better if D1 teams were subject to such jeopardy too - a Top 16 (mix up D1 & D2), with say, 8 advancing to Sam?

The prize for remaining in D1 is virtually guaranteeing All Ireland qualification next year. D1 status is hard earned and hard to retain.

Unbelievable, Is there no end your nonsense? How about the winners of the All Ireland dropping into Div 4? Would that be enough jeopardy for you?

Westmeath - 3rd in D3.
2 wins from 2 as they look to bounce back to D2. Winning D3 two years ago secured their passage to the championship. Making the D3 final could suffice this year.

League qualifiers will be away to provincial finalists in Round 1. Going by recent years the Round 1 draw will probably be in the week leading up to the Munster and Connacht finals. Galway could be drawn at home to Armagh, Tyrone or Donegal and Mayo could be drawn at home to Westmeath, Down or Wexford - as both are in the middle of preparing for the Connacht final. Their opponents will be able to scout the final in preparation for two weeks later.

A Dublin man says it was a red. Sligo and Wickow says it was a yellow? Hmmm

Well in fairness I live in Sligo, from Dublin and I didn't say it was a yellow, what McMahon done deserved at most a finger-wag warning. I was at the game but didn't see the incident live but when he was taking McMahon's name I did see the referee indicate a strike. Video shows a very light weight push on Ryan O'Donohue's back. Officials got it totally wrong.

Should hurling adopt a similar structure? - albeit 'half size':
AIC Rd 1: Prov Finalists (4) host 'Other High NHL teams' (4)
Rd 2A: 4 Rd 1 winners; Rd 2B: 4 Rd 1 losers
Rd 3 (= QFs): 2 Rd 2A losers v 2 Rd 2B winners
SFs: 2 Rd 2A winners v 2 Rd 3 winners
Final

The national football league linked to championship seems a bit extreme. Tyrone were without the Errigal Ciaran contingent in 2025 and were relegated. Hurling arguably is right to have the league for incremental development improvement and then you are into championship.
The majority seem in favour of the league linked to football championship, so that's likely to be the way for the foreseeable future.
I think during the qualifier era - there was some suggestion of the double eliminator after provincial finals. It probably would have been messy going from qualifying rounds to double eliminator at the time. In a roundabout way - the GAA have gotten to the double eliminator eventually.
The current hurling championship format had previously been suggested as well. In fear of being outshone by the the football Super 8s, the hurling format gathering dust on the shelf was dusted down and voted in. Hurling counties weren't in favour but football counties got it voted in. Football counties saved the hurling championship!
