Replying To GerBo:  "Any word/update on some of the older players if they are still part of the panel? I know Dowd confirmed Davy Murray is taking an extended break and will return, but what about the likes of Shane Killoran and John McManus? Have they opted out or were not asked back? Personally myself, I thought Killoran struggled last year (as you might expect after years away from Inter-County and into his 30s), so I would be stunned if he is still involved. However, I thought McManus was one of our better players last year and I would've felt he'd still have something to in 2026"
MC Manus opted out
Killoran not sure if he opted out or wasn't asked back his teaching in Ros town so he is about the place not travelling as was in the past

16 to 18 players unavailable for selection this weekend. And I say 16 to 18 because it remains to be seen if two of the 10 Brigids players will commit for the season ahead.

Could have done without the injuries on top of all the Brigids,Strokestown players and David Murray out as C Cox, C Heneghan,U Harney,C McKeon would certainly have featured this this weekend.

Anyway is what it is and best of luck to the Roscommon players and management tomorrow in Fitzgerald Stadium.

Neary just back from Club duty obviously not up to County speed.

Best of luck to Roscommon tomorrow against Kerry and in particular to our new captain Diarmuid Murtagh and new vice captain Dylan Ruane. Two good choices in my opinion. The last time a Murtagh captained Roscommon (Ciaran) we won the Connacht Championship. Diarmuid was also captain when St Faithleachs won the Connacht intermediate title a few years ago. It will be some achievement for the family if they could make it three Connacht titles against the strong bookies odds. I would not rule it out if the Brigids and Strokestown lads come back rightly motivated.

Great performance from roscommon. I was watching the game live on tg4 stream i was watchong tge clock it froze at 69.59 for about 3 seconds. The ball was in flight but had not gone over as the hooter went.

Great performance considering we were missing so many players and we met David Clifford in top form. Kerry seemed to get frees much more easily than Roscommon and a free should have been awarded to Diarmuid Murtagh at the very end. Having said that we had every opportunity to draw or win the game. The ball should have been released to Eoin Colleran ( i think) for a tap in goal in the second half. You have to take those chances.
Much more optimistic after the game than I was before the game.

They fairly done their best !!
Gutting defeat equal measures of pride and disappointment leaving Killarney today
They have to back that performance up next week now and get 2 points on the board no point complaining the result is the result and today is in the rear view mirror
Bring on next weekend

Oh christ lads how did ye not at least get a point from that. Was never a free at the end but still should have defended it better. Still and all a good performance but would have given ye serious belief and momentum to win that

I suppose few things went against us and missed a few easy chances to. A Roscommon defender should have got a fist to that ball at the end that's all it needed. It's was a young inexperienced team so they have to look at the positives. Missing around 10 lads today so well done to them all. Daire cregg was brilliant but we need that every week from him.

Where does one start after that match. I agree with most if not all of the above posts. As the Donegal poster said the clock seemed to freeze for a few seconds at the death. Id love to know who operates the hooter. Also as Tribesmen said we should really have defended that high ball at the very end. So close yet so far to beating Kerry and getting 2 points on the board. I think over the 70 mins Roscommon were probably the better team. We created many more goal chances than Kerry who got a very soft penalty and a goal which should have been ruled out for square ball. The Kerry players seemed to throw themselves to the ground very easily and win frees. In saying that Roscommon had so many chances that they didnt take. Paul Carey will be kicking himself this evening. He'd normally kick those with his eyes closed. Id be very interested to see the stats for today's game. It felt like Roscommon created more chances overall but missed quite a few scorable chances. In saying that I was so pleased with their overall performance. It was so much better than I expected. Senan Lamb, Daire, Diarmuid and Enda were all impressive. So many other lads put their hands up too at different points in the game. Was also great to see big Jack Duggan come on and get 2 points. Hopefully we can put in another strong performance next week and get two points on board and push on. Ros Comáin abú

That's a question I asked aswell, who operates the hooter?? If it's an official from the home team then there's always going to be question marks over it. Also, was there a breach from the Kerry defence right in that final play? The Roscommon bench beside me were adamant there was before the free was awarded to Kerry.
Anyway, nothing we can do about it now. I travelled to Killarney hoping for a positive performance and left sickened that we didn't come away with at least a draw. So many positives to take away. We looked so much better than the last few years, far more threat and a real bite to our play, the work rate from the forwards to press the Kerry defence was great to see. Daire was excellent, I thought Conor Ryan done well for his first day out, Diarmuid and Enda also but my Man of the Match was Senan Lambe, I thought he was brilliant and fought for everything.
We will rue some missed chances, namely Carey's effort at the end but also Daires goal chance when there was a man free to pass it to for a tap in.
Overall, we are in a better place than I thought we were and pleased with the performance but it'll count for nothing if we don't back it up and put 2 points on the board next Sunday.

No more than Brigids last week Roscommon was out of luck against Kerry opposition. With so many players out Roscommon are building a strong panel and no surprise with how strong club football has been in Roscommon and the county team strong at U17,U20 kevel winning Connacht titles.

A performance that deserved at least a draw and no Kerry supporter I talked to afterwards that thought they deserved the two points.

To come away disappointed after not getting a draw or win against the defending champions you know there was still plenty of positives. Experienced players showed leadership and new or newish faces more than held their own.

So many call went against us like a clear square ball on the first kerry goal, Clifford sideline score that came from him doing the fouling, a debatable foul on their penalty and how two fouls was ignored before a free was given to Kerry for the match winning score on the hooter. We still had enough opportunities to win, 3-5 at least left behind us and I really hope the 1 or 2 points dropped today doesn't cost us in the battle to retain Division 1 status.

So I'm presuming we will have all Brigid's players involved this year. Just stack and Nolan out through injury untill end of the league. That's a massive boost for Roscommon this year. From what I saw yesterday we have some very good young lads. McCormick keogh lambe were very good you add in frost Fallon stack nearly there will be massive competition for places. Eoin ward was very good also. Also henaghans speed is savage from the half forward line and add Conor hands speed to the other wing it will cause teams problems. Yesterdays performance has to be backed up with 2 points on Sunday.

Mark Dowd saying Stack and Nolan out for the League.
I'd imagine the rest of the Brigids lads will be back training after next weekend?
