Clare I suspect at least 10 of that Mayo starting team would be considered likely championship starters as things stand. A few more likely championship starters are named on the bench.

Why is Andy Moran going so strong in the 2nd week of January in the FBD? Take your favourite neighbours in comparison Galway who are fielding a development panel while resting the majority of first players before beating Mayo in the opening round of the NFL.

Maybe Andy just can't fathom loosing to the Rossies at any stage or anywhere ! Also our guys need to get adopted to the new rules after the debacle of 25 and get used to going for 2 pointers . And they need game time not been in a competitive match since getting knocked out by Donegal I don't count club action in that as it's a differnt ball game .

10? I doubt it. Also last weekend Donegal had 11 or 12 starters named for their game that was postponed. So why would an experienced top manager like Jim Mc do that? It's January we don't know what's happening behind the scenes.

You doubt that R Hennelly,E Hession J Coyne,P Durcan S Callinan,B Touhy D McBrien,R O'Donoghue,A O'Shea T Conroy will start in the championship?

They are different in Ulster, take the McKenna Cup very seriously including 7 to 10k that turn up to to watch those games.

Look at the very different approach Joyce and Galway are taking to this competition and Dublin with the O Byrne cup and Kerry in the McGrath cup. It's the time of year to give minutes to as many new or young players as possible and yes have them play themselves alongside 4 or 5 established players to bed in but to start 10 and then the likes of Brickenden,Carney,Coen more established players sure to be brought on?

I love how you think all these are guaranteed starters. Tuohy will be a sub unless something drastic happens. Hennelly only back no guarantee. Callinan struggled badly last year was dropped. It's laughable to suggest you know that's 10 starters. Also Brickenden and Coen absolutely not certain starters.

Also hilarious that you think it's ok for Ulster teams to go very strong as big crowds turn up. Surely Jim Mc should be resting big players because of the slog of Ulster if that's the logic you are applying.

Aren't Galway just amazing haha you do realise this is a Rossie thread don't you ?
Our guys need to get better at the new rules and 2 pointers that's why going strong . As we were well off it last year .

Well we certainly found out where we are today and it's not a good place after that trimming off Mayo.

Contest probably over at half time when we found ourselves 3 points behind having played with a strong wind and bizarrely chose not to even attempt many two pointers from play nevermind score them.

Mayo who are far from two point kings simply used the wind advantage unlike us to score 6 two pointers in the 2nd half. Our 7 scores from 24 attempts was a shocking return and within those misses was a couple of goal opportunities wasted that if scored would have given the scoreboard a better look.

Only the FBD and only January plus lots of first choice players to return. Run out against Sligo next weekend before a very challenging Division 1 campaign.

Very poor display by Roscommon today. Their shooting was very poor especially in the first half. Mayo were full value for the win. They brought an intensity to the game that was championship like, especially in their defence. The Roscommon forwards were afforded little or no space whereas we stood off the Mayo lads and let them shoot the lights out in the second half. Some positives with Conor Ryan performing well in midfield. Tim Lambe and Caelim Keogh done well, while Dara Cregg had some good patches. Overall though, we looked well behind in preparation and is worrying considering the league starts in 3 weeks. Hopefully a much better performance to come against Sligo and get game time into a few more lads. Too early to read too much I suppose but hopefully a big improvement by the time we travel to Killarney. Ros Comáin abú

I can only remember 1 two point attempt from play.. we did create the better goal chances.
I'mproved a little in midfield in second half but we lost all kick outs in first half.
Kept carrying the ball into contact again and again and loosing possession.
Wouldn't be panicking yet.

Who is losing their head? All appear reasonable posts after a heavy loss and shows the improvement Roscommon will need. Players returning should help.

For Mayo they should go on to win the FBD against development Galway team and today and winning that could be some unwanted hype from the media before the NFL

Far from two pointer kings ? Even last year we didn't kick that many 2 pointers even witg advantage of wind.

Only fbd I wouldn't be getting carried away we are not .. Andy was always gonna want to win big against ye in first match .

Ah yeah the hype after winning the FBD is always massive. This thread is hilarious. One lad yapping with about Mayo and their starting team , another lad saying Mayo beating a second string Galway could have an impact on them because of the hype. Have a lie down lads. It's January.

That's my point Mayo are far from two point kings. Yet today using simply the wind advantage was enough due mainly to our lack of pressure put on the Mayo shooters

Only the FBD but we found out alot more about ourselves today than against Leitrim last week. It's a matter of improving a lot from what we showed today for the upcoming league

'Ye'? That AKA's not from Mayo.

You're spot on about the two pointers today. Under no real pressure on the stand side of the arc. But it's encouraging that they were encouraged to go for them. Our balance looked better too, not so over reliant on Ryan. Other than the odd quick offload I thought Aido offered very little today though they didn't give on too much ball to him in the first half. Hopefully we'll have genuine competition for places this year.

Yeah exactly my point ... Andy said we need to focus on 2 pointers and clearly we have been.

It'a only Fbd good signs early on.. oh don't worry we are still rebuilding and have a lot work on..
