Very bad year for club and county teams in Westmeath at adult level in hurling and football. A rare Leinster intermediate final appearance would be a big consolation prize though and Tubberclair certainly good enough to win this weekend. I think it could be close, Wallace should get all the hurling clubs votes up north end of county and the northern football clubs, Finan should get a lot of support south of the equator, I think they're the only 2 for chair. Keith Quinn took up secretary role during the year, not sure if he has to be voted in or if there's anyone else going for it. If we need to hire a Chairperson also to do the same then we will end up ignoring everyone else who is not Athlone or Garrycastle. Why are they strange appointments? Two rural clubs struggling in intermediate, realistically not going to win championship, recruiting local knowledgeable coaches is the way to go surely, keep costs down and both have a track record with schools and clubs.
