Thanks. Looks like they lost to Tooreen's second team in the Mayo final and then went on to represent Mayo.

3 years away isnt that long. BTW I'm not downing your county by saying this, you could get to an AI final next year even, its just hard to see with who you have coming through right now, and the fact they arent getting top level development as so few of them have even got a prolonged run in the League.

No only the Premier Junior Winners will be promoted , i think the football example this year is a good warning . Carna wont two finals and still dont get promoted . First year for a Mayo team to be in the Junior , and its only right, it was a bit silly Galway Junior Champs went straight into the Final . And great for Ballinsloe to play it at home . The Junior hurling should be like all the other competetions, instead they always play the final in Bekan . Easkey are going for a 4 in a row i think in Connacht which really shouldnt happen, the same when Tooreen went on a run , they should have taken at least one shot at Senior Club . puckemhard (Galway) - Posts: 245 - 17/11/2025 08:32:57 2644927 Link 1 |

I like that you said "be in" and I agree with you that there's a good chance- winning one who knows. As you say most of the teams who have been at the top in recent years are ageing, and while Tipp 100% deserved their title and took the chance when it came, I don't think they have the quality to go on a dominant run. we also have the weaker province to get through so I give us a decent chance. donohue is taking awful stick at the moment but he's a proven All Ireland winning manager so I have no concerns that we're at a disadvantage on that front. KK are 'beatable', remaining unbeaten in the last 6 Leinster Finals.

They are beatable. Galway gave away at least one of those matches you're talking about when they cleared a ball straight to a KK player that goaled it. Anyway the original post that I was responding to was for future matches. I responded by saying Galway could be in an AI in 3-5 years. Tipp proved that KK are beatable this past championship.

Tipp regularly prove that KK are beatable in championship hurling. Galway,do not.

Kildare away in the opening round of the Walsh Cup on 4 January and then play the winner of Offaly/Antrim the following Sunday. Not the most exciting fixtures to start the year but will be interesting to see the new faces on the panel. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 1027 - 19/11/2025 11:43:23 2645266 Link 1 |

Have our results against Kilkenny the last 4 or 5 years been disappointing? - Yes Overdahill (Galway) - Posts: 81 - 19/11/2025 12:22:15 2645270 Link 1 |

Since the year 2000 our record is just 50/50 against them all the same (6 wins each).

That's a pattern we're familiar with though. While Galway and Tipp were staging three 1pt margin semis 2015-2017, Tipp we're beating KK by 9pts at the 2016 final, while Galway we're losing the 2015 and 2016 Leinster Finals comprehensively, by margins of 6 and 7pts to Kilkenny. Even when Galway we're clearly at the top of the pecking order in 2017 and 2018, they still needed two days out to see off KK at the '18 Leinster Finals. I'd imagine we will see plenty of new lads for Walsh Cup anyway. Cian Daniels from Larkins is in with the panel along with Darragh Neary from Cashel and I believe Manso is in there as well. Would be no harm to see a few of the young lads getting a run out as well - Jason Rabbitte, Rory Burke, Niland, Sean Murphy etc. Haven't heard anything on the Sarsfields lads but I'd hope Connaire is back with the panel this year.

I agree 100% I also think players should be given a good run in the league. The likes of Rory burke etc but the lads that are u20 should stay u20 and develop. Would like to see McLaughlin back in the mix this year still think he's one of our best prospects.

There was definitely a quote from Paul Bellew on a GBFM interview a month or two ago that there is an understanding with Gavin Keary that there will be a large group of u20s part of the senior panel for 2026. It is likely to be the most we have had in both panels in a long time and it is nearly the whole u20 forward unit. Rabbitte, Niland, Leen and Callanan are all in with the senior training already. Cullen Killeen will be in there after Loughrea finish. Sean Murphy also with senior group. The likes of Vince Morgan, Darragh Counihan and Colm Burke wouldn't be a million miles off it either. Not all of them will still be with the seniors by the time the league rolls around but it will definitely be a lot more crossing the two squads than in recent years.

lol. I'm not denying that one bit. KK definitely have the upper hand in the past far more than Galway. But hey in answering the original question I said Galway could get to an AI final in 3-5 years and they could do it without winning Leinster and avoiding KK in the semis.
