Conor O Donnell was by far Donegals best forward this year, had a great final, if they were giving one forward All Star to Donegal it was him by a mile, Sam Mulroy had a great year and deserves his All Star.

Have to agree with you on that. Conor O'Donnell is a glaring omission. I think Mulroy is a super footballer, but O'Donnell had the better year in my opinion. He was a constant threat from play.

I agree with you that conor ó Donnell should have got it ahead of mulroy. Can see why mulroy got it though, with louth winning leinster and he being their main man. I think mulroy was better last year. Conaty totally deserved his though. Got 5 or 6 points from play in a couple of matches. richiepmurphy (Kilkenny) - Posts: 41 - 08/11/2025 07:38:30 2643465 Link 0 |

Conor O Donnell is unlucky but Louth were always going to get an All star and Mulroy was fantastic. There wasn't much wriggle room in the full forward line because Clifford and Murphy were dead certs. I don't believe Paudie Clifford deserved an All star but I am definitely in the minority. He missed a lot of football during the year with suspension and injury. Donegal's decision to give him the freedom of Croke Park for the All Ireland handed him the accolade. eoinog (Sligo) - Posts: 2274 - 08/11/2025 08:47:43 2643466 Link 0 |

The All Star awards seem fair enough. The nominations were out of kilter with how the summer played out.

Conaty certainly deserved his but maybe Burns could have been in instead. Murdock was best midfielder in Ireland this year. McCole was lucky.

The man of the match in the biggest game you played all year scoring 1-7 We didn't even need him to beat you comfortabley in the league either He also scored 0-13 v Down in the All Ireland I think Burns was better myself over the year (he scored just the 0-9 against you in the league, and 1-3 in the final) No Meath player came close to either against us DundalkGael (Louth) - Posts: 967 - 08/11/2025 10:35:46 2643476 Link 0 |

The all stars is a joke. How Donegal got 4 stars after getting thrashed in final is laughable. Jack Coyne deserved it over Sam Mulroy anyway .

The Irish newspaper coverage of the All stars pure cringe going down the route of the British tabloids. Trying to big up the glitz and glamour and the well dressed couples. It's like the Daily Mail coverage of the British soap awards. FullOfPorter (Roscommon) - Posts: 451 - 08/11/2025 11:17:47 2643480 Link 1 |

How? They don't play in the same positions for a start. Conor ó Donnell was hard done by though

Not many people know how many all-stars players have. Almost nobody knows how many nominations a player has, bar the player themselves perhaps. If Kerry are satisfied with their all-stars haul, are they still dissatisfied with their nominations haul?

Yeh a efender should most definitely get the all star instead of a forward in the forward positions Sure why not throw David Clifford full back on the team to make space for another forward while they are at it DundalkGael (Louth) - Posts: 967 - 08/11/2025 12:22:14 2643492 Link 1 |

Wee county they are known as. Mulroy got one because mainly his county won it's first Leinster title in 68 years and in the final he scored 1-7 against your own Meath. Only surprise about the selections is Conor O'Donnell not included. I'd probably put him in before Conaty though Conaty was good also. And why shouldn't a defender get an all star over a forward ? It's about how well you do in your position not about what position you play . Each position is just as important as the other.

The new age world of instagram and tiktok encourages this with the look at me culture. Some of them seek it out while others are probably feeling the cringe and would rather be anywhere else. Some of these young lads didn't want to talk during interviews and why would they. Young people are entitled to enjoy themselves but there certainly seemed to be an artificial, plastic tone to it. None of this has anything to do with our games. The GAA needs to revise the whole thing including who is involved in the selection process and also how the press (especially of the tabloid nature) are allowed access into the event! winatallcost (Meath) - Posts: 841 - 08/11/2025 13:59:55 2643504 Link 0 |
