I don't wish to be always banging on about the shortcomings of our CB. There are many on there who have give years of their lives doing their best as they see it to try improve Gaelic games in our county - but it has never been enough. We are always years behind other counties. I don't know what the answer is. But whatever we do never seems to be enough.

Replying To Freethinker:  "I watched the Balto game today and am glad to say that I wasn't sorry that I didn't travel to Aughrim even though I had earlier bought a ticket. I was at an u19 game in Roundwood and the cold got into my old bones so I settled for C4. I have to say I wasn't surprised. I had been reading a bit about Athy and they had opened eyes in Kildare this year. Our championships have never been weaker for a fair few yrs now. On the other hand, the u19 game was a cracker - or at least the first half was. The second half? Well, AGB didn't show, but it was worth watching some of the Tochair scores alone. These two could meet again and I am not sure if AGB might be better than the final score showed."
How many permissions on you're local Roundwood team.

The county board has its faults, for example, terrible county grounds, no floodlights, no promotion of GAA in the county. An unwillingness or an inability to show some initiative. Having said that I really think there is a major problem at club level in relation to developing players who can compete against other counties/clubs in other counties. The club championships are mired in mediocrity but there seems to be no willingness to change. The evidence is there for everyone to see when a club or county team try to compete in competitions outside their local environs. As was said by another poster, there really needs to be change but it is really hard to see the required change happening. Players win matches. Wicklow don't win matches as the players aren't there.

Have no idea. I'm not that serious a supporter of anyone anymore. . Where I live I have the Dales, Laragh, Ashford, Roundwood Glenealy to keep me occupied I don't get involved in any of the local "politics". I fit in going to as many games as my old body allows. Permissions or whatever I leave to others. I'm more interested in results and standards being improved, so I go watch as many different clubs as possible.

I don't get why people get so energized by underage permissions. As if having players that are playing via "permission" is some sort of slight on your team and is used to undermine the teams success if they win.

A player is only playing under permission to another club if his own club can't provide him with hurling or football at his age group, So effectively the permitting club is stepping in to help develop your player and make him into a valuable asset for your club in the long term when he graduates to adult hurling/football.
