Fairly sure that Oran won by 2 and deservedly so. Four Roads big favourites to win the final moros (Roscommon) - Posts: 1170 - 15/09/2025 11:46:06 2636228 Link 0 |
Possibly and didn't take a good goal chance before Oran got theirs. Losing Jack Lohan was a big blow to Dominics and a loss for the footballers now trying to avoid relegation. I'd say Four Roads would rather be facing anyone else bar Oran in that final.

Super win for Aoife, massive achievement. Fair play for making the trip, sounded like big Irish supoort.

Could it be a case of lads involved with clubs and they don't want to make any announcements until their club commitments wrap up? I would have been in the camp of backroom teams so important now, nearly as important as the manager. But interesting to listen to the Irish Examiner podcast where they seemed to say there is too much made of backroom team announcements and personel, that it's nearly all optics and media fanfare. I took from it that at the end of the day it is the manager who sets the scene and a star studded backroom is of no addition if the manager hasn't a good road map or buy in. James Horan reckons there is only a handful of really top coaches in the country so you'd wonder. Listened to the Seanie Mc interview on the Rossie podcast and very interesting to hear his view on some of the past managers as a player in the camp and the contrast with the supporters views outside. Sounds like we really missed out on giving Fergie O'Donnell a really proper second shot. He mentions the over reaction to the 2016 results. To think for such a young coach/manager, possibly the best in the county, won a minor all Ireland and his time with the seniors comes to about 4 years over two stints? That is a real shame especially when we don't have many at that level in the county. At the risk of going over old ground and although I have good time for McStay, how did that joint ticket come about? Was it McStay that looked for him to come on board? I hope Mark Dowd has huge success with the Roscommon but it will be a real shame if O'Donnell doesn't get to manage the county again at some point in the future. Better leave 2016 where it is! Talking of coaches would Kerry have won Sam this year without Cian O'Neill? Good fitness and S&C people are vital. Our Co Senior squad seemed to have had the fitness sorted out this year unlike 2022 and 2023. But other issues.... Seanfan (Roscommon) - Posts: 115 - 16/09/2025 12:39:08 2636414 Link 0 |

Lohan was a loss to Doms alright but Oran were deserving winners with a backs to the wall performance second half. Young Hussey at six was immense. Doms didn't have near the threat up front compared to the ever green Cathal Kenny. Kenny fired over some beautiful points. While Mike Moran named at 9 for Doms stopped Pat Fallon from player the Oran freetaker was deadly from the placed ball. Connaughton the Doms freetaker choked second half. Kilcline who scored 2-3 in the qf didn't fire for Doms while Mike Egan was largely anonymous. Again well done Oran.

I just think you need top class strength and conditioning coaches. I think it's an area we have neglected over the years. We seem to be always playing catch up with the top teams in that area and I know people will say it wasn't our main problem last year but it has been a problem for years. We have the natural talent there to take on the likes of Galway and mayo so hopefully we can get the best out of these lads.

Yes, there was a good Irish and support but it was a pity that it clashed with the women's Ireland v France rugby game. It is very difficult to win a World Boxing GOLD medal. Only five Irish boxers have ever achieved this feat and even Kelly Harrington has not won one which puts things into perspective. The five Irish boxers are: Katie Taylor, Michael Conlon. (robbed at the Olympics) Amy Broadhurst. LISA O' ROURKE (2022) AOIFE O' ROURKE. (On Sunday) I was a very proud Rossie in M&S Areana in Liverpool last Sunday and am still on a bit of a high after it. Some achievement by the O' Rourke sisters from Roscommon and also to the Irish boxing team who finished 7th (3 medals) from the sixty six competing nations. letsgetgoing (Roscommon) - Posts: 799 - 16/09/2025 21:16:46 2636496 Link 1 |
