Replying To Kickitout:  "The team I'd like see starting I know it won't but this is my team think definitely need changes
Flaherty
McGrath. Fitz. Glynn
Mchugh. Daly. Kelly
Maher / Mcdaid
Tierney. Cooke. Darcy
Finnert. Walsh. Thompson

The one position I was hesitant in was Glynn only reado. I picked him as I think silke or o flaherty prob offer more coming on i definitely think they need put Mcdaid to midfield his best position and Galway as a team would benefit from him driving forward and i believe himself and Maher actually play well together"
I'd start Silke instead of (probably controversial) but maybe in place of Kelly. I don't think he has been great other than the final few minutes against Derry . Unless he went back full back instead of Fitz which could be an another good option. Same team otherwise. I don't see PJ dropping Gleeson or holding back Conroy but I would just to shake it up

Was mcdaid playing midfield v Derry ?? Seemed to be tracking rogers a good bit from watching on TV

Also his efforts getting back for glass goal was slack enough.

Hes all action and I don't think we get best out of him if he's back defending.

he's not outstanding winning kickouts like Darcy or conroy to a lesser extent

I think half forward is his best spot was great v Dublin and v Roscommon Mayo this year in that role.

Leave the dirty work to Maher around the middle.

Bring likes of Conroy and Cooke on with 25 to go with the hope their 2 point kicking ability will see us over the line. Bring on Daly too for his kick passing and O'Flaherty for his line breaks. Last sub to bring on is probably a toss up between Hernon and Heaney. Depending on what is needed I guess.
If anything else, I hope this post will generate the right sort of discussion and put an end to the Mayo bs."
A decent team on paper - depends on how fit Comer is and if there is a full game in him. He might start Hernon or Heaney and bring on Comer. Daly is our most natural 6 I feel - could start him and Kelly at 3. Would be good to start seeing Comer and Walsh on field together. There are plenty of options - it comes down to the players - would love if they brought the intensity shown by Derry and Dublin against us. I feel the opposition brought it and we reacted to it.

Replying To Green&Gold2013:  "1. Flaherty (heard he's going well)
2. Johnny McGrath
3. Sean Fitz
4. Liam Silke ( will pick up Grugan wherever he goes)
5. Dylan Mchugh
6. John Daly ( has to get back in going on form)
7. Sean Kelly ( expect him to pick Rian O Neill)
8. Maher
9. Mcdaid
10. Matthew Tierney
11. Conroy (but wouldn't be surprised if he's dropped).
12. Darcy
13. Finnerty
14. Comer / Walsh ( one of these will be left in reserve)
15. Matthew Thompson

I expect changes on Saturday. PJ has to try get things sparked up."
Not sure how anyone could leave Glynn out after the last day.

It's not surprising you spelt gasúr wrong, not much Irish around Belclare"
You're not too bright.

He was brilliant last year but I am wondering do the new rules and the emphasis on 1v1 defending suit Dylan Mchugh?

He'd a good first half but got destroyed by Lachlan Murray once he came on. The goal conceded was very poor defending and Murray kicked two more without a glove laid

Well gasúr does appear in all the "foclóirí gaeilge" meaning boy but I'm afraid no sign of "gasún" probably a mis-spelling/mispronunciation of the proper noun Garsún

I think Galway will make 4 changes from Derry match
Out

Gleason.
Mulkerrins
Conroy
O Neill

In
Flahery
Fitz
Darcy
Cooke

The more I think about it don't think they start Daly as he being out long time and prib better coming on to try control the tempo of game I do worry slight about Kelly at 6 think he struggles a bit there definitely need move Mcdaid out of forward in my opinion he much better facing down the field offers a lot more in an ideal team he woukd make a great centre back if u could afford to put him there ,

Garsún is Munster, gasúr is Connacht/Ulster. Originally gasúr meant a young boy and girseach a young girl. The distinction is still in Donegal.

Would be gasun for me growing up in East Mayo but far from being a Gaeilgóir. I've seen garsún too, presuming it's someways connected to garçon in French.

All agreed regarding Garsún and Gasúr and both are authentic versions in their dialects. My point is the previous posters assertion that Gasún is also an authentic version is probably not correct but is just bad spelling or pronunciation.

Was your Irish teacher from Munster by any chance or did he/she speak Munster Irish?
