On a side note to the highs and lows of our county team.
We have to be the only county left that a Master fixture list has not been released.
When is the club league starting?
When is the Club Championship starting?
How many teams are coming up and going down in both league/championship this year?
The Leitrim Gaa Website doesn't even have the basic tables for each division up on the website.
Very hard to build enthusiasm in players or supporters without any of this.
Let alone let managers start planning or players actually book holidays etc.
Archaic stuff.

Information is out there.
Club League due to start on weekend of June Bank holiday, with Spring League starting at end of March and Reserve Leagues second week of April.
There is talk of Championship being pushed back two weeks to mid August instead of starting like it has for the last 5/6 years on the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Haven't heard that confirmed, I think the logic may be so that the Senior champions are not lying up for too long before Connacht Club.

Replying To Leitrim007: "Looks a seriously impressive team, hopefully we can pick up a few wins and get a spot in a semi final and after that you wouldn't know what could happen. I do agree the lads should be left alone to focus on this for the next few weeks and then rejoin the seniors after. Our u17s had another good win over tipperary at the weekend, would anyone give a stab at the team that will start the Connacht championship and who are the standout players to keep an eye on." Ben Harte from Carrigallen has started a couple of challenges also. Promising young player and good to see them getting some representation on county teams - they are often forgotten as if their players qualify for Cavan/Longford.

Even with how weak the orginal squad that was picked for this league campaign was to then lose Barry McNulty and Jordan Reynolds to injury was a disaster
Now it seems like Adam Reynolds, Donal Casey (not named on the squad this week) and Cillian McGloin won't play any meaningful part for the league. That along with Keith Beirne not being selected.
Thats 5/6 players who would have been expected to be our main players (of whos available) in this campaign. You could also add in Shane Quinn who has left. Thats half a team.
We only have 23 players named for Sunday - has there been more defections or why is this the case?
Are we also going to continue to risk the 5 U20 players before their big campaign even though its not helping their development getting hammered every week and the U20s have been suffering in challenge games without them - County Board may have to take charge if Poacher and Barry McWeeney can't come to agreement.

True, but if you take the 6 U20's our Leitrim would have 16 players !!!!!!!

No realistic chance of retaining current league status so management rightly want to get game time for as many players as possible before the Mayo game. All countries are doing it regardless of how the league is going for them. Remaining games will be used to help manager decide on his championship squad.

i've said it before about Casey, when the conversation on here was being had about great players and who gets on the Roscommon team. He simply doesn't play enough games for club or county to be considered a great player. must be an attitude issue.
i fear for Leitrim again tomorrow. looking at the team its hard to know if thats the one will start. no more than Moran, Poacher seems to name a team that doesn't actually start, as if it gives us some kinda silly advantage. which clearly it doesn't.
anyway best of luck to the lads tomorrow, i really hope they give a good account of themselves.

Leitrim 1-18 Monaghan 0-16. Another outstanding achievement from our hurlers. It's beginning to look like it's time to throw the entire resources available to the county board in that direction. A dedicated bunch of lads giving it their all deserve the fullest support….
Will it happen ?

Looking very likely that Sligo will join Leitrim in Div 4 next year unless we pull a win against Antrim and or Clare. Looks like 5 points is needed save anyone in Div 4 this year and that 8/9 could get ya second at the moment

Replying To Square_B: "Is there no Mayo thread you can comment on?" Why are you always so hostile to other counties contributing to this thread? There is quite a lot of good will from other counties to Leitrim, of course if you had played the game at any decent level you might better understand this! Have a nice evening! Well done to the young kids that played for Leitrim today, you can really see the improvement, hopefully the u20 players will benefit from the intensity of division 3 football when it comes to their own championship! Leitrim Abu!
