In fairness the Cooraclare goalie was very vigilant on his social distancing.

that's just a generic file picture..not from the weekends games..the lad taking the free and the goalkeeper are probably a bit doomed though!

What defines an outdoor gathering? Looking from Tipp's perspective thurles could easily accommodate 800 (based off the 200 guideline). Players and officials could be considered 1 group, each stand and terrace a separate group with designated routes and parking. I dont think it will happen but hopefully something will be in place to allow more spectators in for the later stages of the club championships

The 6 Counties went from no spectators to 400 at outdoor events a few weeks ago. A buzzare decision when the 26 Counties were already at 300 and still 200.

The worry they have is about everyone mixing going to and from the match and mixing in the same shop/chippie after too.

I completely understand it from a Dublin and even maybe the other cities and big towns where people get buses/Luas to the ground but that rule is a bit unfair on rural pitches where most would drive or walk to the game and would be local anyway

The six counties were correct in what they did, but our experts appear not to be able to differentiate between the risk posed between an indoor event and an out door event, between a very large space and a small space. The cases in the northern part of the country is quite low and very low in all rural areas judging by the data available.

There still is the issue of people traveling together though. If you are driving to the game and your mate rings for a lift and then you have to pick up another friend on the way, people of different houses mixing for duration in small space. I don't agree with the decision but I can see the reasoning.

Is there any rule in place for how many people in a regular sized car or taxi? If all are wearing masks isn't it all the same anyway?

I believe face coverings are mandatory in taxis and it is recommended that no journey greater then 15 minutes should be undertaken. Also, passengers are asked to sit in the back.

Fair enough. They're common sense rules that anyone could follow.

If they even happen, yes. Officials, management, panel players, medical staff account for close to 100 people already between two teams. Unless 100 tickets are sold to spectators, then I cannot foresee a crowd. I've been baffled at the continued insistence in GAA circles that Donegal v Tyrone is to be held in Breffni/Croke Park.

My guess remains that there will be no All-Ireland.

Whether it is a 200 or 500 limit at inter-county matches probably makes no real difference as it won't be enough to accommodate all those wanting to go. I still feel they should go ahead with the inter-county season behind closed doors. Its far from ideal but it's better than nothing. At least we would be able to watch some matches on TV during the winter months. We are a long way from allowing large gatherings and would be best to plan accordingly - for this year at least.

Behind closed doors it will have to be, if at all, no reason to move our game with Tyrone away from Mac Cumhaill park now anyway, I think some of the GAA hierarchy are living in cuckoo land still.

Think we have to resign ourselves to the fact that if there is to be an inter county championship this year then it will be behind closed doors. I'm happy enough with that to be honest so long as most games can be televised. But looking at the situation in Offaly and Kildare currently - how would games involving those counties work if they were fixed for this weekend for example? Would they be even allowed to go ahead?

The R-number is getting worse which is a very worrying sign. We need to be very careful. Hopefully to God we can get our club championships safely played at least.

Yea but the R number is a misleading indicator as it naturally will rise when clusters around group situations arise. Its pretty well known that in a group one persons if they are infectious will infect more than one other and it could be everyone depending on the nature of what that group was doing. If these were random cases spread through the country then that would be a massive worry. Thats not to say that clusters are not an issue they are as there is always a chance that a close contact is missing or that someone has been infected and asymptotic before they isolate etc. added to that is the fact that people isolate at home and some are better than others at doing it right. So their big concern here is leakage from the process and the more people infected, the greater the chance of that leakage happening. If everyone downloaded and used the tracker app it would help, I would have made that compulsory and somehow made it a push from the service provider but then that would be an issue with our civil liberties - you can see that some people believe that being forced to wear a mask is interfering with out human rights unfortunately the virus doesn't really care for human rights!
