Too many clicks in county board they only worry about getting soft seats in croke park.we need a business man who has a vision to fundraise plan n deliver us a stadium that can bring us al a smile on our face when we watch our county team.players hate playing in Drogheda if we had proper facilities maybe players would make themselves available to play.the stadium should b in Dundalk as at least 70% of people who follow Louth r from north Louth n surrounding area.PS where's the money gone we got from croke park to keep us quiet after 2010 Leinster final"
Thanks for the input evergreen now please remain seated for the rest of the discussion and look out the window. Thanks.

DKIT died a death as Croke Park won't spend money on a ground without having 100% control, the exact same reason Drogheda didn't go ahead, they wanted the O Raghallaighs to hand over control and sign a new lease and O Raghallaighs refused.
The only option is a greenfield site as I can't see any club handing over control of their ground to Croke Park.

Replying To GAAdundalk:  "True...I remember when I seen the plans for it I thought that after all the years it was finally happening.it ticked all the boxes and was unfortunately too good to be true as usual. Is it dead in the water? DKIT are quite adventurous and that campus is constantly growing. The last I heard about that deal was that it was a closed idea as they wanted to pump the money into Drogheda. Now that is finally over as a proposal surely it can be looked and again.
3 options for me are

1) explore the DKIT route, cheaper
2)greenfield site, more expensive but total control
3) do nothing

I feel it will be 3"
I think there is a radical forth option .
a) Get Louth County Council to CPO the county grounds for much needed housing in Drogheda
b) Buy a green field site at either Dundalk Racecourse or Ardee Link Road junction of M1 and develope proper County Griunds there
c)) Amalgamate Oliver Plunkets and Rats
d) Develope and secure the Mell pitch as a top class club grounds without any hidden clauses.

This would solve a number of issues that have plagued us for years and would also provide homes for people whose offsprings could join the new Oliver Plunkets

Very very radical. We can't even get a straightforward plan to go through. The only bit I agree with is B. Greenfield site is probably best option if DKIT is dead. Racecourse road in Dundalk would be a great selection. Big big fields , plenty of space and right beside motorway. Ardee good option too.
Maybe we can appeal to any local millionaires at this stage and beg.

Say it was one of the more interesting meetings in Darver last night. I was reading the Dundalk Democra'ts taking on proceedings. The two interesting points were:

1. The delegates asking if clubs will be reimburst for the construction of the stand in the Rats pitch.

2. Both the Plunketts and Marys offering their grounds for a future county ground. Not sure if the Plunketts is a runner as they currently have just the one pitch but if they purchased the land around them they possibly. Ardee could be more of a runner with plenty of land around them and currently have one full size, one almost full size and a training pitch.

Lads...Get along to the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday and you will see the last County Game played in Drogheda,

The players will be delighted as they don't like playing there as the pitch is poor.

Ardee being lined up to take the league for the next 2 years and great to see the county final being shared around the County.

The Raghallaighs will miss the revenue generated for hosting games and other clubs will benefit.

Ardee St Marys offered their ground last night for the new county grounds. I would grab it with both hands as a lot of work is already done and their grounds look fantastic

Very disappointed with this news but I am at least not one bit surprise with this news. For the last thirty years I heard that there would be work on a Louth GAA grounds. The GAA Grounds in Drogheda is the worse County grounds in the Country. Wee the Louth supporters deserve better than this.

Very disappointing news regarding the Gaelic Grounds. I feel that the Rats put themselves above the County here and it must have been clear to them at the outset that they would not agree to a change in their lease. I genuinely don't think the County Board can be blamed. I still think that the grounds should be placed in Drogheda or alternatively Dundalk as they have the largest population. Hate comments above which dismiss Drogheda as a possible location for an alternative grounds. If Louth are to be successful then you can't dismiss the largest population centre in the county. In saying that I just want to see us with a proper county grounds at this point, preferably in Drogheda or Dundalk

Public transport into our neighbouring county tows of Clones or Navan isn't great and they are two towns with important county grounds are located.....We don't need anymore Dundalk and/or Drogheda debacles to be holding up progress....

Smallest county in Ireland, I don't care if they buy the Westerns pitch and build it there at this stage. Just give us a county ground please, something to be proud of

Why didn't you answer Dundalk Gaels negative post about Ardee if you didn't care?

Why did you answer my reply to DundalkGael instead, when all I did was point out the similarity of Clones, Navan and later Cavan to Ardee.

You are one and the same and you forgot which account you were logged in under me thinks ;)

Yeah because I have so much time on my hands I have 2 Hogan stand accounts! Good man have a good weekend fella.
Like I said you got confused, that's OK it happens. I'd take a county grounds anywhere at this stage but no more going into partnership with clubs. Greenfield site, build it and they will come !

Lads don't be so naive. why do you think it was floated that Navan was to get a state of the art stadium servicing the north east. The Croke Park involvement of both Louth and Meath county boards and a very high power committee spearheaded by ex minister Noel Dempsey. The 'test the water' plan did not receive any great opposition and you will now see it get further airing next spring as Drogheda is dead and buried. but you have to hand it to the club as they have batted away county board chairman after county board chairman.
