Reports say Louth GAA has to raise 4 million. At the moment they cannot raise 4 thousand.

The clubs are paying off Darver. Only for that the CB would be broke.

God love them if they think this will happen. There is clubs out there raising more than the CB

It will never happen clubs are leading the way in looking after there own facilities and rightly so have a look around the county at some of the club facilities it would do your heart good to see all the facilities improving year on year co board have no chance of raising this money half a million tax still owed on darver that the clubs are paying, white elephant

All seems to be very stagnant regarding this venture, planning application delayed as more information is needed for Louth Co Council but that is to be expected on any new build, I hear the house raffle launch is going to be on the 8th November huge fundraising task ahead also rumour has it the clubs wont be taxed regarding this venture but will be expected to sell in the region of 400 tickets per club ( not a tax ) projected income of €1,600,000 from this leaving a €2,400,000 sum still to be raised by county board ambitious for a 14,000 stadium that realistically is not required . South Louth clubs will find it very difficult to sell tickets for a stadium to be built in Dundalk that's a reality and recently Kevins , Feckins have had house draws and car draws are becoming the norm now for any club looking to raise money so fundraising for clubs is becoming exhausted so trying to sell for the County wont be easy. We have a state of the art training facility in Darver so county teams are been prepared properly , would it be ridiculous to say we are better off with what we have now than taking on any kind of debt , I know its not ideal to be playing home cship matches in neutral grounds but its time to take a stand on this remember Newbridge or no where for Kildare v Mayo and the game was played in Newbridge if we only get the go ahead for 4,000 max in gaelic grounds then run with that I'm going all me life and outside of Drogheda 91 Croke Park 2010 we would struggle to get 1,500 at a game. Don't let geography or egos get in the way.

Also government grants approvals have been pushed back again and we need these grants to open up the site and start filling it to bring it above the flood plain!

Ah here, are you serious.have a bit of ambition, or a bit of drive. Louth are one of the only teams in the country without a county ground, massive progress has finally been made, and now you say pull the plug at least we have Darver?
Is it too ambitious 14000 , yes and no. That's only CAPACITY...nobody expects it to be that high with Louth...but no point building something with 6000 capacity. And remember it's only 4000 or so seated I think, so don't get bogged down on the maximum capacity.
And maybe with a ground of this quality and size we could hold some intercounty fixtures that need to be played at a neutral ground.
If we keep setting the bar low then inevitably we will stay low

We have Darver as a training Facility for county teams don't be confused never in a million years did I suggest darver as an alternative. I would love a county ground I'm not against it but I do see the downside for the clubs like it or not its the clubs that will get levied for this is the end . I've followed county teams all me life regardless of what division or age group we were in B cship , Tommy Murphy cups etc etc ive been given out about our lack of a terrace in Drogheda all my life but I know the hard work been done in my own club to raise funds to keep us going and moving forward and I have experienced the rath of the county board when your struggling to meet your Darver payments its an expensive solution to a problem that doesn't exist and the clubs will suffer.

So announced last night that no grant has been allocated this time around to help commence development. Given that there are plenty of obstacles to overcome with the planning permission application it is a bit of a concern that the chairman wants to plough ahead and start work on filling the site.
It's estimated it will take 5,000 lorry loads of filling to bring the site up to the required level. Anyone any idea what this could cost or perhaps developers would be glad to have somewhere to dispose of soil?

If they have any sense they'll be getting the soil from developers, why would ya pay for it when you can get it for free

Why would developers give it away for free? Surely it'll have to be paid for?

Its my knowledge that the filling will be coming from Wuxi (the new pharmaceutical plant beside Xerox).
The developer will get paid for taking it off site and will be looking for somewhere to dump it.

Developers will pay you to take filling, they are crying out for sites to dump what they call "construction and demolition waste" which they can categorise as recycled material once crushed and there is no harmful waste material included. This creates its own issues for the land owner in terms of the filling amount required. If the amount of waste needed to fill the site is more than 25,000 tonnes but less than 100,000 then an EPA permit is required, the site will need to be classified as a waste faciity for the duration of time it will be receiving "recycled" waste. If the amount required is over 100,000 tonnes, then an EPA license is required, this costs a lot more to receive from local authority, both in terms of meeting regulatory requirements and monetary cost. Most of the land owners that apply to put this type of facility on their land apply for less than 100,000 tonnes and also for a period usually spread over five years, so they can spread out the volume of HGV activity in the area of the site. Once this permit is up they then apply for an extension. It is a way of circumventing the need for a license and therefore the costs associated. How stringent the checks are in relation to waste taken from sites, where it goes and how harmful it is is another matter, as the Primetime investigates programme that aired last year pointed out.

I am not sure how many tonnes of filling is required in Dundalk on the site, but if done correctly then the county board can make some money out of the filling of the site. A local rugby club in North County Dublin embarked on a similar process about 10-15 years ago and they received 125 per load to fill their ground.

Ah right! That's interesting. Didn't know how it worked. Every day's a school day! Hopefully they can get it done quick and crack on.

Very positive report on RTÉ during the week. Looks like the 2022 senior final will be played in the new field. Who will be the first winners ? Pats or Jocks.
