I wouldn't day they got their act together at all. Why release the details of a deal that has not been completed? They were talking big and blowing their own trumpets when nothing had been finalised this is foolish to say the least.

The sale of the land has to be passed by the council members so at best it means a delay in that happening. Why it was removed from the agenda is the main concern!

It was great to hear today that the Louth Co. Council gave the go-ahead to the GAA Stadium project in Dundalk and hopefully our new home will be ready by 2020. Thanks are due to the sub-committee who worked so hard to make this day happen and also to the Councillors who had the wisdom to see the value of this development for the youth of Co. Louth. It was indeed a most timely Christmas present to the people of this area.

Good news and well done by subcommittee and overall committee in their efforts..hope it goes smoothly or as smoothly as is possible.

It would remiss of me not to have concerns however on the fundraising efforts which will be needed; our 'efforts' for the past number of years have been sub-standard to say the leafy and despite big gate receipts at intendedand senior finals the actual fundraising has been atrocious with individual clubs themselves in some instances turning over profits 4/5/6 times the county board.
Darver contributions have always been a bone of contention in the county and if €94k is the receipts last year we're looking at another re-proposal and adoption I'm sure of another 5/6yrs of said contribution just to clear Darver.

Croke Park will most certainly aide our efforts for the new development however like any of our own clubs seeking loan drawdowns the first thing you're asked to produce are you income and expenditure and cash projections incl fundraising profits, etc..we simply haven't had any to talk of so I'm sure the CB, similar to all types of grant funding I've encountered, require a minimum of 20% to be funded privately, conceivably €1.5m-€1.8m based on anticipated costs. I just don't see where we can get this bar large beneficiaries who are also Louth Gaels coming to our aid similar to JP donation except on a larger scale e.g 15ppl x €100k.

I sound negative now so I'll leave it at that for now...the best of luck to all involved and here's hoping it's an overwhelming success.

Powerful news from LCC after a two months delay. Hope this is the start of the recovery from losing the Athletic Grounds in 1959. Before that we were winning Leinsters regularly and also All Ireland's . Fantastic work by the sub-committee and all involved. Frank Lynch's name should be somewhere on the new home. He was a great player, manager and chairman. Now he is involved in this major development 61 years after winning Sam Maguire. Great memories and new hope.

This is the most significant thing to happen within the county in the last 40 years. 2010 was important, not because we got to a Leinster final or for any of the nonsense that followed but what was significant was that a crowd of 20000 people left the county that morning to travel to Dublin to support the team. This showed us that there was and still is a huge support for the county team if they and the county board can get their act together.

Now our county team can look forward to playing home matches not in Navan or Parnell Park but in the football mad town of Dundalk in front of a partisan home support of 12000 plus. This is what inspires players to play and prepare to play football. It will do more for underage football than any amount of Cul Camps could possibly do.

Money is going to be needed and I dont think that that will be the problem if the project team continue to play their cards right. By this I mean coming up with a joined up plan on how to raise approx €2 million locally, creating an overall fund-raising committee with good people in charge. It will have to be multi pronged with various schemes available to suit every pocket both corporate and personal. I have no doubt that we have amongst us some of the finest people who can do this job and bring this dream to reality.

Looking at the pictures certainly creates excitement. It all looks good. Any word of how it went down at County Board meeting. First step to making us proud again. Now for a Leinster. And then ........

fundraising has to start 1st and planning permission be granted as you simply know there will be objections to it

what is the point in a 14,000 capacity stadium. Wont get 1,000 for League Games and unless you draw Dublin in a champ match, never ever be full

DundalkGael 14,000 is a grand size. The new stadium could be a neutral ground for qualifier matches especially if a Leinster team draws an Ulster team.
