I used to live around there and to be honest it is the most awkward place in Drogheda to get to from the M1 so a link road for me would be essential. AC (None) - Posts: 318 - 27/07/2018 11:38:37 2126676 Link 0 |
AC nobody outside Drogheda will under your Lourdes quote. I hope the United pitch gets the go ahead behind Aston Village. All the Blues players will be playing soccer in 5 years. Actually now that I think about, I dont, they will be poaching more players than normal if that happens. joej (Louth) - Posts: 1615 - 28/07/2018 11:26:50 2126963 Link 0 |

looks like something is about to happen, fair play to the special committee put together by the county treasurer. didn't take them long to get a plan in place. years of wasting time in the gaelic grounds is all forgotten about in a few months heard the chairman on the radio last week talking about it and then was told at the weekend in dowdallshil by a county board member that he has nothing to do with it. itslouth (Louth) - Posts: 178 - 28/08/2018 13:14:15 2137096 Link 0 |
Sounds like a sensible plan. 12k a good size venue for most matches, similar to Newry and Armagh which have great atmospheres when full. Eddie the Exile (Monaghan) - Posts: 1189 - 28/08/2018 17:06:16 2137212 Link 0 |
The previous DKIT proposal was a joint venture, to be funded and run 50-50 between DKIT and GAA. AC (None) - Posts: 318 - 29/08/2018 10:23:52 2137328 Link 0 |
If this is to transpire, major building block in the foundation of putting Louth on a better path to improving their fortunes on the pitch at all levels. Somewhere to be proud off, inspire players at club level to play county finals etc there, inspire the better players to want to represent Louth at county level and make every supporter proud when supporting the county team at home and not feel like 2nd class citizens which currently is the case and this permeates through at all levels on the pitch. Well done all involved and make sure it is seen through. Now, go the whole hog, in addition (1) reform the club season that runs on time with or without county players and gives players more games in a set calender (2) get more quality coaching into the schools at all levels and (3) make it madatory that all clubs fully participate in coaching training / courses Red2017 (Louth) - Posts: 122 - 29/08/2018 12:58:08 2137377 Link 0 |
On the face of it looks a very reasonable plan, same as with Navan the key question is how will it be funded? Is it to be used for GAA only or as it is shared with DKIT will it be multi use?. longroadback (Meath) - Posts: 331 - 29/08/2018 15:53:24 2137441 Link 0 |
Looks the right job. Just hope it flies not like the other failed bids. I hope everyone gets behind it. A bit ironic that when the team is as bad as I have seen and we have no manager we finally might get a new county ground. joej (Louth) - Posts: 1615 - 31/08/2018 08:20:16 2137814 Link 0 |
Red2017. Well done..That is a perfect plan for the future and one we would love to see in place and maybe you should be involved putting these things in place, But this will never happen until the most important part is put in place first and that is a leader at the top who has vision for the future of Louth gaa and can delegate the work to people who want to help. The first time a project was taken out of the hands of the current CB it gets done in 6 short weeks. Congrats to the external committee who are making this happen, at long last light at the end of a very long tunnel. Maybe just maybe these men should take control. Lets hope they are now allowed finish the job and we get somewhere we call home and all our players aspire to play there itslouth (Louth) - Posts: 178 - 31/08/2018 09:42:20 2137831 Link 1 |

Great news indeed. I'm sure it will encourage all club players to aim for the red jersey. We can look forward to great games with top teams in the future. It's only eight years since that infamous Leinster final and no team bar Dublin have succeeded us. With good facilities we can rise quickly. I wonder what club if any will be tenants in the new stadium. All the local clubs have their own grounds so it's unlikely any of them will come in. Pity if it's only used for 9/10 county games and club championships in summer. 19616609 (Louth) - Posts: 1683 - 03/09/2018 23:05:24 2139006 Link 0 |
Looks like its promising news alright, LMFM had it on their sports bulletin this morning too. Really hope it gets the go ahead and soon, we would all love to see us with a good county home to play in and for us spectators to watch. A lot of us will probably help dig the foundations if it gets it done quicker :) louthman57 (Louth) - Posts: 303 - 04/09/2018 09:35:14 2139051 Link 0 |
so how many new taxes and levys will now be brought in to have the clubs subsidise this while nothing is done with regard to fundraising by the County Board themselves. LemonySnickett (Louth) - Posts: 88 - 04/09/2018 10:08:38 2139062 Link 0 |
Aidan Berrill is our man to give a big thank you regards new grounds, he got 4 lads on board for committee, an managed to keep our Co board delegates away from it. Redzer_Brown (Louth) - Posts: 153 - 04/09/2018 11:14:59 2139087 Link 0 |
Not even a sod turned yet fella. I've witnessed enough over the years to know that this will probably not go smoothly next Monday

Funny enough GAAdundalk, i was thinking the same thing. there is one officer of the CB could throw it all up in the air if he gets his hands on it..so i call on all club reps who will be there on monday to support these men that have got it this far and let them finish the job

Absolutely, well said, this needs pushing over the line once and for all, finally. No Drogheda or Dundalk fighting and bickering over location, it needs building and soon, get it done. Well done to all involved who appear to have made significant effort in a few months compared to current and previous county boards. Fingers crossed we have something to look forward ..finally. louthman57 (Louth) - Posts: 303 - 04/09/2018 13:15:36 2139117 Link 0 |
And I hate being a pessimist.i will glady work for free on it with a shovel on Saturdays and Sunday's if it meant finally getting a place to call home, a place to be proud off. GAAdundalk (Louth) - Posts: 641 - 04/09/2018 14:14:16 2139142 Link 0 |
