I used to live around there and to be honest it is the most awkward place in Drogheda to get to from the M1 so a link road for me would be essential. If it goes ahead you could see United park getting swallowed up by the Lourdes. Any updates on the GAAs situation, presumably not. Whats another year.... AC nobody outside Drogheda will under your Lourdes quote. I hope the United pitch gets the go ahead behind Aston Village. All the Blues players will be playing soccer in 5 years. The previous DKIT proposal was a joint venture, to be funded and run 50-50 between DKIT and GAA. The Stadium • 4,000 capacity fully covered seated stand, incorporating 4 fully fitted dressing rooms, 2 referees' rooms, a physio and treatment room, player, official and public toilet blocks and a 200 seat reception room • Media facilities • 5,000 terraced stand constructed to be converted to a 2,500 seated stand in the future • 3,000 capacity embankments to the ends and sides of the ground • Stadium fully enclosed with parking for 100 within the enclosed space • Stadium grade pitch similar to that installed in major professional venues • Floodlighting to 300Lux (with infrastructure to upgrade to 800Lux if required) • Electronic scoreboard Facilities directly associated with the Stadium (available for use on Match Days): • 2 warm up pitches (sand carpet championship pitches) • Restaurant and franchise facilities such as the college restaurant (600 seats) and the coffee dock in the Carroll's Building • On site parking for 1,200 vehicles • Indoor warm up and preparation hall on the current campus From the artists impressions it looks similar to Parnell park AC (None) - Posts: 318 - 29/08/2018 10:23:52 2137328 Link
If this is to transpire, major building block in the foundation of putting Louth on a better path to improving their fortunes on the pitch at all levels. Somewhere to be proud off, inspire players at club level to play county finals etc there, inspire the better players to want to represent Louth at county level and make every supporter proud when supporting the county team at home and not feel like 2nd class citizens which currently is the case and this permeates through at all levels on the pitch. Well done all involved and make sure it is seen through. Now, go the whole hog, in addition (1) reform the club season that runs on time with or without county players and gives players more games in a set calender (2) get more quality coaching into the schools at all levels and (3) make it madatory that all clubs fully participate in coaching training / courses Red2017 (Louth) - Posts: 122 - 29/08/2018 12:58:08 2137377 Link

Well done..That is a perfect plan for the future and one we would love to see in place and maybe you should be involved putting these things in place, But this will never happen until the most important part is put in place first and that is a leader at the top who has vision for the future of Louth gaa and can delegate the work to people who want to help. The first time a project was taken out of the hands of the current CB it gets done in 6 short weeks. Congrats to the external committee who are making this happen, at long last light at the end of a very long tunnel. Maybe just maybe these men should take control. We can look forward to great games with top teams in the future. It's only eight years since that infamous Leinster final and no team bar Dublin have succeeded us. With good facilities we can rise quickly. I wonder what club if any will be tenants in the new stadium. All the local clubs have their own grounds so it's unlikely any of them will come in. Aidan Berrill is our man to give a big thank you regards new grounds, he got 4 lads on board for committee, an managed to keep our Co board delegates away from it. It's amazing when you people with drive involved things can happen. Hope we can build on this an get players looking forward to play on a great ground. No Drogheda or Dundalk fighting and bickering over location, it needs building and soon, get it done. Well done to all involved who appear to have made significant effort in a few months compared to current and previous county boards. And I hate being a pessimist.i will glady work for free on it with a shovel on Saturdays and Sunday's if it meant finally getting a place to call home, a place to be proud off.
