I have been looking into my crystal ball and see the
pairings for the AI semi finals Mayo V Tyrone Cork v Dublin
with Mayo and Dublin going to the final .
Mayo will take Connacht Dublin Leinster Tyrone will take Ulster
Cork Munster with Kerry and Donegal gone at the qf stage.

it depends what side of draw tyrone are
you could have tyrone Dublin Kerry all on one side of draw
and mayo might have to take out monaghon to get to final

A lot depends on qtr final pairings u could for example see Tyrone knocked out of ulster early building up a head of steam n the qualifiers n knocking out a team like Dublin or mayo in the qtr finals who are only starting to get into gear at that stage of the championship . Who knows

Its not that hard to predict this year Gleebo.I think its fairly safe to say the finalists will come from the following 4 counties, Dublin, Kerry, Mayo or Tyrone.Right now Dublin v Mayo seems most likely.
Donegal, or Cork the only others I could see making it.

Tyrone are a potential banana skin for later in the championship and with one of the best managers in the game, I'm sure they'll be tactically set up very well to take on any opponent. That being said, this team still have prove they can actually beat Kerry/Dublin/Mayo. They came close last year against Kerry and perhaps that little bit of inexperience held them back, but they'll know better for next time. I think they could be a tough enough prospect in this championship.

Condor, the fate of any side, no matter how good, is at the mercy of fortune to some extent. Look at the great Tyrone side of the 2000's, for example, which never managed to get back to an All-Ireland final the year after they won it due to injuries, suspensions, tragic circumstances etc, despite being the best side in the country at the time. There's an element of luck required to keep your best team on the pitch throughout the championship. Likewise, Cork and Donegal struggled in the year after they won the All-Ireland.

Likewise, I would also say that it's generally silly to base championship predictions on league form (though Dublin may be an exception, given how strong their panel is). There are several counties who prioritise the league in order to gain promotion, and others who just do what they can to stay in the top division (Mayo and Donegal, for example) as their squad depth isn't sufficient to challenge on two fronts.

I don't see either why people persist in citing Cork as dark horses when they haven't reached an All-Ireland semi-final since 2012, exited the qualifiers tamely to Kildare last year and were just relegated. The combination of the three suggest to me that they are a long way off, and frankly I'd put Monaghan above them given their Ulster Championship wins in the last few years.

Anything can happen in championship. We should be hanging around at the business end of the championship but after that nothing is a foregone conclusion. The only thing that is certain is Dublin will be in a semi final and most likely the final.

Anyone remember the defining result for this current Mayo group under Horan?
It was 2011 and we were drawn against All Ireland Champions Cork, Joe Brolly said "Cork will wipe the floor with Mayo" with Tony Davis laughing.
The next week on the Sunday game just before throw in Brolly again said "When Cork beat Mayo..."

We beat Cork after a fantastic performance. So my friends nothing is forgone but I do se why people are tipping a Mayo v Dublin final but I wouldn't be running to the bookies.

Celtic and Rangers are both on the one side of the draw, so it will be one of them in the final.

Will it be Mayo? They would have to beat a back door team, most likely Tyrone in the semis, and then face the dubs in the final. It would be no great shock to see them. Just look at the prices.

I think Cork are tricky simply because you don't know which Cork team will show up on the day. I could see them taking a scalp somewhere along the line, but then falling apart in the next match. I don't think they're consistent enough to go deep in the championship.

Since Cork won the all ireland, they have only managed one championship victory in croke park, and that was against kildare in 2012. They are a shadow of their former selves. Factoring in their form over the past 5 seasons, plus the fact they are now relegated to division 2, I expect them to be even worse this year than ever.

We are relying on Tyrone,Galway, Cavan or Roscommon to come up with some new ideas. Armagh were relegated to division 3. Derry are at sea. The Donegal blanket has been found out. Monaghan are a 2 match team. There is absolutely zero in leinster worth talking about. The championship is now becoming a very very predictable affair. I hope that I am wrong.

A big victory wouldn't have to come in Croke Park. They could pull out a great performance in Munster, for example, just like they did last year, but then go on to the quarters and utterly come apart. In fact, I wouldn't be shocked at all to see that happen.

In fairness to Cork last year I think they were most unlucky.They should have beaten kerry the first day and if memory serves I think they only had 6 days after losing the replay to kerry before they played Kildare.
They have the players to make it to a semi at least.They also have won an All ireland recently.
