Dublins run to retaining Sam

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Dublin haven't played against a defensive outfit in league or championship this year. If it was Donegal they were playing on Saturday then I'd expect Donegal to win bit after a scare I think Dublin will beat Monaghan. Johnny Cooper being fit is a boost for Dublin and is the most underrated player on the Dublin team. I'd expect him to man mark Mc Manus andkeep him scoreless from play or at least limit him to a few pints from play. Dublin will learn a lot about the defensive game from this and will be well ready for Armagh or Donegal. It's looking like another Dublin v Mayo final with a similar result as last year.

Talking about Leinster , did it not take a Leinster county 10 years to get to an All Iireland final :::02/03/04/05/06/07/08/09/10 no Leinster team in the final. If you took Dublin outa Leinster the way the other counties played it would take ages for a Leinster county to reach an AI final. Well if you went by last Sats results.

I have said earlier on in the year that I thought Dublin was well overrated and I still think the same. That's not saying they won't win the AI but I can see Monaghan giving them a game ( I like to get tomorrow's nights games over as we will know better ) but there are still teams left who can rattle Dublin. If it happens and Dublin meets Donegal then my money is on Donegal.

Bit of a smug post Sam, we all have had barren years and ok we get it you think Donegal will beat Dublin if they meet, Jaysus you've said it enough times.

That's my honest opinion and if we meet I'm going by our defensive system which I think will turn out to be better than 2011/12 system I don't think a lot of people understands Donegal's system and Dara o Shea said as much a few weeks ago.
Anyway I'm heading to Dublin tomorrow morning ( lighting visit like Donegal's counter attacks) so I won't be posting again until Sunday. Fifty years a following Donegal and still as keen as ever
But I want to wish everybody going to the two game a very enjoyable evening , hope to see two great games , quite possible we will see the 2014 AI champions ( we will defenitaly see the 2013/2012 AI champions )
To all the Dubs on the Hill have a good luck at the blanket as it could be your downfall this year. Best of luck to all the teams , especially DONEGAL and hope the weather if good

So much for Ulster defensive grit stifling Dublin. It is hard to see Donegal faring much better. Sadly the only team that can stop Dublin is themselves.

Jesus and I thought Cork were bad in July, that match on Saturday was worse than a training game for Dublin. Once the second goal went in, Monaghan collapsed, Dublin forwards were able to shoot at their ease with barely a Monaghan defender trying to put a hand on them. The game will have Dublin no good except only ratcheting up expectations levels. Thank God, were coming in on the other side completely under the radar. Most people on here aren't even giving us a chance of beating Mayo let alone Dublin.

I still think Donegal can take Dublin, but they will have to recapture the intensity they had in 2012 and play like men possessed for 70 minutes. If they can keep it tight in first 25 minutes, don't conceded any goals and manage to nudge ahead at half time then it will be fascinating to see how Dublin will react. Once Donegal get their noses in front they are incredibly hard to overhaul as we found out in the 2012 Q-final. But, as I mentioned, they need to get back that 2012 intensity which hasn't been seen so far this year from them. Should be a very interesting game, probably not pretty, but interesting nonetheless.

Where in the name of God did anyone say that Dublin wouldn't beat an Ulster team?
