Bluedubstar. In fairness to Joe brolly he was very correct in his summing up of Donegal 2012 He also saw them for the fist time under JMcG in their third game of that years league and at that time he said they will win the 2011 AI. Unfortunately He had to wait 12 more months to see his forecast become reality. Now he saw Donegal'spotential in early 2011 and the effect their Blanket defence would have on teams. Not saying this will happen this year but I hope Dublin get a chance to play Donegal (no to save argument I will also say I hope Donegal get a chance to play Dublin ) Also reading Philip Jordon in the G Life and he says ::::how Jim Galvin prepares Dublin this summer will determine whether they retain the AI Danny Hughes also thinks they will struggle in his article in the Irish News. As an earlier post states (if the QFinal /Semi final is Dublin v Ulster teams :::::welcome Dublin to the Ulster championship. But in reality what we need is a team meeting Dublin who will push them to the limit. This thing about winning games not coming out of second gear , that's not what we want , we want to see Dublin in top gear and also their challengers, be it Donegal/Monaghan/down/Tyrone also in top gear. The best team on the day win

Realdub I'm suprised Legendzxix is not referring to Donegal, ArmaghDown and Tyrone as the Ulster region. After all they killed off lots of Kerry dreams of winning Sam over the last 12 Years

Maybe so, but Danny Hughes, Philip Jordan, all form Ulster and will be pro Ulsters. Personally, I have seen very little to suggest that Dublin are not been prepared as well as last year. As for Danny Hughes what is 'we will struggle' based on? Be interested in reading the article. I think to be fair let both teams get out of their provincials before we talking them up.

1613615 BlueDubstar................ Be carefull what you wish for............. On the topic of making each other laugh, I had a giggle when you mention Meath as a team you fear, smells like cute hoorism with the impending Leinster final coming up..... Never knew off a Dub to fear an Mhi..........
Be carful what I wish for in that we get Donegal and beat them? Don't need to be careful in wishing on that one. You mustn't know many Dubs...! yes there is always that fear in the stomach when playing Meath, I respect them, hate loosing to them over any team, they have shown in the past that when they see a Dublin jersey they up their game. They ran us very close last year... so to be honest yeah I'd fear them.
Time will tell lad.......... As I have often stated on here, Sam isn't ready to be handed out in July.... A lot can happen in 10 weeks and I fully expect it to............

Royaldunn Think you are off the mark about the ratings of some of these teams and no doubt it will be proved as the championship progresses At present Dublin ::::no1 ( the team who can't be beat in the semi final) After that Monaghan /Donegal (Sundays game/Ulster final will tells us a little bit more about Monaghan. But IF Dublin were gone out of the race for Sam my money would go on either Donegal/Monaghan I think Cork /Kerry are rated on what they done over the last few years and Kerry on tradition. But don't forget they have a lot of new players , new to championship football so I don't thin when it's all over either will be in the top 4 I rate Tyrone/down/Armagh as good as Kildare/Meath/Galway. Let's face it if Meath were to play anyone of the Ulster counties, I could never see Bray and co getting all that space again
Bluedubstar. Don't think Meath will get anywhere near Dublin , never mind the sight of a Dublin Jersey that won't won them the game. To me Donegal seems to play well against Dublin , out of 4championship meetings :::One victory1992, one drawn game and two defeats and all in CP. Now how about a championship meeting in Ballybofey.

Anyways: 97 Cavan, 00 Armagh, 04 Derry, 06 Armagh, 07 Monaghan and 09 Antrim (Ulster runners-up). 09 was the first All-Ireland we won in that period without having to overcome Ulster opposition from a quarter-final on.
How many of those teams were Ulster Champions - I would assume Cavan in 97 given no qualifiers at that stage but since qualifiers came in how many times did Kerry beat the Ulster Champions enroute to winning the All Ireland?
First one in with the correct answer gets a free packet of cheese and onion crisps (Tayto).

1613637 Don't know why my posts not getting through. The order of teams at the minute is Dublin Mayo/Cork/Kerry Monaghan Meath/Donegal/galway Kildare/Tyrone/
Rd... I would put Roscommon in there somewhere too. They are going to be formiddable opponents for whoever they meet this year.
I can see them making the semi at least.

The flights of fancy grow ever more florid, the hubris ever more absurd.
Never has a team with so little going for it had so much expected from it by so many.

I admire your optimism but only the great Kerry team of the 00's managed even 2 in a row. If Dublin somehow do achieve 5 in a row then they will surely go down as the best side ever.

S Goldrick is of course correct and wins the crisps but if you dont eat them all can you give the rest to legendzxix as he is correct when he states that Armagh were Ulster Champions in 2000 but since my question did say since the qualifiers came in I cannot accept that and I also did say first one in.

Its supporters like clondalkin that just makes you hope and pray that Dublin fall flat on their asses, and trust me I have huge admiration for Dublin football but listening to his bravado just gets on my nerves now.

its funny to see the Donegal lads talking down meath, only a few months ago meath should've beaten Donegal in the league only because of a couple of refereeing decisions it ended in a draw. Donegal are nowhere near the team they were in 2012 and I would be very confident that if meath were to meet Donegal in the quarter final we would win.
