So former Connacht Rugby player Gavin Duffy has been brought into the Mayo squad. Duffy has already represented Mayo at minor level. Can anyone name any others that have played both sports at a high level?

Here's a few to start us off

Niall Ronan - Meath minors
Shane Horgan - Meath minors
Rob Kearney - Louth minors
Mick Galwey - Kerry seniors
Moss Keane - From the same club as Galwey Currow, Kerry U21's
Tommy Bowe - Monaghan minors

He did indeed. As far as I can remember he came onto the team when he was 16 but soon enough quit to focus on the oval ball.

Had an interesting post-match pub debate there recently about losing GAA players to professional sports like Rugby, Soccer, etc. (and Chris O'Dowd to Acting also came up!), and the impact these players might have had. But if a GAA player has the opportunity to be paid to play sport i certainly wouldnt begrudge them. As someone put it 'it's the playstation we should be worried about, not rugby'. I must say thou, one player who i'd love to see still playing GAA is Tommy Walsh of Kerry - smashing footballer.

yeah Zinzan Brook played with midfield for St Brendan's in London, had thought it was made up until I met him one day and he confirmed it, said he loved it and the few pints after.

I think Conor Sweeney from Tipp played for Cork Con.

Also Darren Sweetham from Cork played hurling and now as a Pro Contract with Munster.

Ya Zinzan wanted to improve his kicking and catching and saw playing gaelic football as a great way to do this. He wasn't great at gaelic by any means but really enjoyed trying to learn it's skills and the social aspect.
