I think it's sad really, all this infighting after what J McG done for the county. You would know better than me as I'm living abroad but he probably has a lot of enemies. I can't figure it out. To me what HE achieved was massive. I remember going to Euston station to catch the early train to Holyhead for Dublin the Saturday before we played Cork the place was full of young and not so young Donegal people, some of them wrapped up in Donegal flags and what a time we had on the way over So much confidence in the team then and I must say I had the best year of my life. We ,Donegal GAA people owe JMcG,a man who took a team that were hammered out the gate in Crossmaglen to an AI victory within 2 years. I hope for all Donegals sake this is sorted but don't forget this is happening in different counties and all it does is stop that particular going on to greater things. Whatever happens thanks for 2012 JIM.

Absolutely nothing to do with club versus county issue.

The first three are purely DROPPED for not being near the standard. And to an extent McHugh has been found out in recent times so you could place him in that category although he still would have been a worthy impact sub.

Anybody who knows the Donegal scene will know exactly why McHugh was dropped - discipline. Nothing more nothing less.

Thinking along the same lines myself. Must say Donegal have giving ALL these posters on HOGAN STAND plenty to talk about since 2011. Must be the most talked about County in Ireland Won't all you different county people miss us when we are no longer a force ( that's if that happens) on a serious note we brought a lot of supporters to games and it meant travelling long distances and a lot came back from Britain to see the county play. I hope the whole thing don't fall apart due to disagreements among ourselves.
As the Yanks say on the dollar :::In GOD we trust, Donegal people should say ::: in JIM we trust.

Things haven't been right there since 2012, and anyone who thinks Jim is some kind of genius is deluded. Over training again this year, that is a fact.

If for discipline then fair play to McGuinness for taking no messing you'd have to say. May even galvanise the squad ahead of the Derry game. Nothing worse than having your dirty linen washed in public though.

Onwards and upwards for us Against all the odds we might still meet ye in August/September. But you are quite correct in what you are saying. , you must have discipline otherwise you would achieve nothing. As regards spilling the beans a lot of people have short memories but hopefully this will drive on Donegal. And I must say I do admire JMcG on his stance regarding discipline , HE is not afraid to make the hard calls Would do the same myself
When I came here as a 17 year old in 1968 you learned to take orders, if you disobeyed or give cheek you did not last long Does you no harm to be taught a few things early in your life , it sets you up for a better future.

The notion some posters have that this is something to do with the club/county row is way off the mark.
Donegal have been singled out as anti club players when in reality they have not done anything that other counties have not done.

If Mc Hugh has been thrown out for disciplinary reasons then it's disappointing to lose such a good player but fair play to Jim for sticking to his principles.
He hasn't delivered 2 Ulster titles and an All Ireland by shirking tough decisions.

As for the Westmeath poster who thinks this is funny. Have a look at the Division 1 League table, that might take the edge off your laughter.

Jim always made changes to his panel after league and before the championship. why the big deal? Mc Hugh is good enough but will be easily replaced with the way Donegal play it will be easy for someone else to slot in. Jim has to be strong over the next few months as their have been people starting to pull against him. Maybe they have been in mark mchughs ear as well and he has been naive enough to listen to it. He can join his old man in the tv studio now. I seen him on the championship matters one night and he looked like he had a few heavy days behind him and I don't think it was training.

Agree 100%. Jim asks for a huge commitment. If some players don't give this commitment then it is only fair on the rest of the squad that they are cut from the panel. Jim is a strong character & will do things as he sees fit and this is the way a successful manager operates in any code.

It's sad to see people already taking sides here. You have those who think that McGuinness has driven a wedge between club and county, and others who are strongly hinting that Mark McHugh is too fond of partying.

I don't know either Mark or Jimmy, but I recognise the contributions that both of them have made to Donegal football over the last few years. McGuinness has always been his own man and, while many will disagree with some of his stances, he wouldn't have taken his county from oblivion to an AI title if he wasn't a strong, single-minded man. And as for McHugh, on the field he was always super-fit, brave, skilful and committed, and Donegal would not have won their AI without his superb play as their sweeper.

There are no winners here -it's a bad day for Donegal football.

We won more into years under JMcG than we ever did Started off with Div2 title 2Ulsters plus the BIG ONE. And the teams we beat on the way so it was no fluke. As you say there's nothing funny about any county having internal disputes and anybody who thinks different must not be a big follower of their county team My advice to the Donegal panel for the rest of the year is ::: GIVE IT ALL FOR DONEGAL.

I think Jim is a little bit OTT from the lads I know that play up there, can't see them doing much this year, he just keeps dogging them, they look dead on their feet again.

I spoke with a donegal supporter on. Sunday he said things were not vood I. The camp.
during the game I said to my mates that donegal seemed like they would prefer to fight than play.
maybe things are not all sweetness and light in donegal.
anyway it will be a shame if county football loses the talent that is mark mc hugh

Very well said in your posters. Think B Cody or A Fergusan , very successful managers but not afraid to call the Shots They had great success and so has JMcG. He is spot on with his calls if discipline is involved and hopefully the timing of it all won't matter As a matter of fact it might give the players the lift they need. Iv been away for years but my view of things are:: a certain few ran Donegal GAA for too long , a little cosy kinda setup. JIM might not be their cup of tea. We are lucky to have him, think back a few short years ago , NOBODY wanted the job.

In my opinion McHugh wont be the loss people think he will. I think he is/was over rated and this is very similar to KC a few years back and that did Donegal no harm.
If anything, this might make lads cop on and return to previous high standards
As i said, I think the player, MM, is/was very over rated and wont be the loss he will be made out to be

Will be interesting to hear Wee Martin's view all the same

lads to say every county is doing what donegal are doing re fixtures is rubbish.as soon as the galway football board have a date for their first county championship match they fix the first round of club championship games for the following weekend.that is usually the last week in may.this year there's two rounds fixed for june. as a club player i think its a disgrace the way donegal club players are being treated.

Don't think this has anything to do with the club county row. Mark is certainly no shrinking violet and the talk is that maybe he was trying to burn the candle at both ends.

He's gone now so we try and move on.

Did you seriously compare Jim Mc Guiness to Brian Cody and Alex Ferguson ???????

Have ya lost the complete run of your self. If either of those gentleman had the season Jim had last year they would have been replaced. Last week ye were once again beaten badly by monaghan. Can i ask you an honest question do you honestly believe that you could beat dublin ??????? Mayo destroyed donegal last year. I saw in an earlier comment that someone refered to Donegal as a footballing power ????
I love donegal people i have a ball with them in 2012 when we lost to them but i do think there is a complete lack of perspective. Dublin are a footballing power kerry are a footballing power cork mayo tyrone by their history are football contenders thats about it. Donegal will have little say this year in the championship and i think you know it. Another comment was that that Donegal are the most talked about county in ireland well unfortunately ye only have yer selves to blame for that. Most counties culled their panels in the last couple of week but donegals is the only one to make head lines and even those head lines are marred with confision . Did the players walk were the pushed let the cloaks and daggers come out ...........................
