Why do so many posters mention Galvin as a possible pundit? What has he done to merit this?

I would say that Paul Galvin has shown himself to be a very mature and intelligent speaker whenever he's made a public appearance, which is more than can be said for a lot of lads who have been given the chance before him. He's played the modern game at the highest level, and would know the intricacies of football inside out. If you ask me, he's more than qualified.

Maybe he would Dolphin but ive seen very little of him on tv talking about football.Small bit on the radio over the years. He would be well down the pecking order for me.Darragh O Se or Darragh O Cinneide would be far more polished.

Probably as much, if not more than the holy trinity currently ensconced in RTE towers, at least he comment on the modern game.

I enjoy listening to RTE,s holy trinity, although they are around quite a while at this stage.Brolly has the sharpest mind out there.Spillane is good for a laugh and O Rourke is always Mr sensible.

Galvin is a perfect mix of eccentric and intelligence for me, and I think he'd be a good fit as a pundit.

I never once mentioned him as being better than Canavan Benjyy, nor did I say that Canavan was a sub-par analyst who knows nothing about football. Not once were those words typed.

Just because Galvin,or any other player for that matter, played the game at a high level does not qualify them to be a pundit. For a start I think Galvin is too scruffy looking for Skys punditry.

I agree with you cue, but how many pundits on any sports show have not played the game at the highest level possible? It does very much seem to be prerequisite in order for any credibility to be established.

I wasn't inferring that you did, but there is only one analyst thats Canavan so picking Galvin would mean replacing him.

They have said there will be guests throughout the season so you may well see Galvin at some point.

I'm not worming out of anything, I don't like TG4 because I can't understand the commentators alright but I never raved about Sky's commentators anyway, that was never the selling point. I don't recall saying I didn't like TG4 because of their analysts, I know that doesn't suit your little fantasy but there you go.

Hardly fitting to comment on something I will never watch. Suffice to say not much see or hear anyway, far better to spend your money on the real thing in the company of real people.
