Sky Pundits

Sky have lots of cameras and lots of mikes and they quite regularly pick up a few unintended offerings from Coaches & Managers. Davy Fitz could become an overnight sensation.

While I'm not in favour of the Sky GAA arrangement I think the RTE and TG4 coverage is gone stale. If Sky manage to steal some of the current "experts" from those channels, great! Most of them are in situ for too long now and constantly air their own agendas rather than discuss what they see in a fair minded way. Perhaps their approach is dictated to them by the tv handlers but which or whether a freshness is badly needed. Hopefully RTE and TG4 freshen up things in a big way now by clearing out the dead wood.

Canavan is probably the best pundit out there as regards knowledge, tactical awareness and his ability to explain things concisely without going off on a different point. A real coup for sky for my money. Galvin we havent seen much of but I doubt he would be of the ability of canavan. I would imagine him in the eamon o'hara mould, i.e. a bit too parochial in his approach.

Dara o Cineade is excellent on seo sport
I think nicky Brennan is also very good
I'd be a definite no no to Canavan and Galvin
Great players they where but in front of the camera they have the personality of a wet blanket!
Would like to see a few coherent presenters with plenty of life in them.
Thomas mulchahy is also good IMO
Would love to see Keith Barr - his articles in the info were excellent

Sure aren't Joe, Pat and Colm great lads in front of the cameras, personality galore. Me, I prefer to be informed all the same.

Meh! Brolly is a spoofer, runs with the hare and all that, Spillane and Orourke have had their day, of the 2 I think Orourke is the better pundit although down through the years they all have been far to negative!

so where is all this talk of analysis going to be so much better with sky leading us
to an ex tv3 analyst who most said were worse then rte
and a guy with the same voice as the priest in father ted with the most boring voice in the lingerie department
whos smile is as rare as the current gaa president

A Kerry and Tyrone man? Even I won't be able to understand what they're saying, never mind the English.

Well that has to be the most ironic post coming from a Cork man!

I wouldnt want keith barr either
but you can hardly hail canavan as agood analyst
he was terrible on tv3, the only natural outside of rte who looks comfortable has been senan connell
not saying hes brilliant analyst but he is way more relaxed and comfortable and positive about the matches

Matt Cooper, canavan and the rest of the tv3 crew actually worked well listening to them on Radio on Today FM. But for some reason when they were on tv3 the whole thing fell flat as a pancake.

Canavan is honest and insightful so may work well with Sky but if SKY's analysis is like TV3 he may not last too long!
If Galvin is hired then I will be switching over...that man was made to be a footballer not a pundit! The most drony and boring voice I have lsitened to on tv and radio. Didnt think he gave great interviews on tv and his radio show on Radio Kerry used to make me switch off!

Would Niall Quinn be any much better though? Sound chap but would he really have the heart for GAA anlysis like say Cyril Farrell!

I agree its stupid having quinn as a presenter
surely o cinneide as presenter and either connell/sherlock along with tohill and davis would have been far better for football

Shaping up to be a decent panel but nothing extraordinary, but that is Sky's form, they tend to prefer their panelists to kick to touch rather than go mad.

hardly a decnt panel an ex tv3 guy and another with no experiance and drole voice
along with an ex soccer player to present the show haha
wheres the huge analysis improvement we have been told would easily happen with sky getting matches
