Sky Pundits

Brian Carney is the one of the main rugby league presenters on Sky and has a GAA background. Could be a clash in commitments though. You would have to imagine this is more a move to secure Irish subscriptions and they will go with presenters familiar to GAA fans.

Parkinson (former Laois guy) on news talk is very controversial and quite funny.....he would be Sky Material.

Witty guy.

Canavan......fantastic player.......terrible analyst.

Most of the northern guys are useless, they are so pro Ulster it would give you an ulcer!!!!

Mossy Quinn is quite honest and has a great manner. Would be a good addition. Paul Curran is also very insightful. If you wanna talk football and tactics.....there's gotta be a Kerryman!

Agree that Parkinson sounds like good craic. He knows his stuff too.Canavan is a poor pundit.I reckon the Second Captains Live lads are sending their CVs to Sky on a daily basis.

Is watching GAA on Sky a pay per view service in Ireland only? and included in the basic Sky Sports package abroad?

If it is pay per view worldwide, Like I can't see non-Irish people abroad subscribing to watch Gaelic Games.

Darragh O'Se and one from a pick of former Dublin players.

Anthony Moyles has always come across well also.

Parkinson is a bit too tabloid or lads mag for prime time viewing although he'd be a decent highlight show pundit.

They will all be schooled in becoming media savvy, an element of the banter and openness will go for sure.

As time goes on any player with a different ethnicity will get a gig also as this is what always happens, it will help with globalisation

The fella who does the boxing might be the host.

If I was betting on who Sky would actually hire, I reckon Jason Sherlock, Tomas O'Se, Peter Canavan, Pádraic Joyce, Mike Frank Russell and Paul Galvin are all massive names whom they would go after.

hill16no1man Kevin Moran has three senior Leinster and two All-Ireland medals for Dublin. I think that qualifies him to talk about the game. As for Shane Long, well he played minor hurling for Tipperary and I think he has a provincial medal at that level so again, not without pedigree in his own code.

Play minor for your county, head off and do well in England playing soccer and suddenly you'd have been the next Christy Ring if you'd sticked at it. Winning a Munster minor means very little to anyone but yourself. Doesn't make you qualified to talk about the game on live telly. I'm sorry but the chances of him playing county for Tipp where probably below half, i could name a few fellas playing rugby in England who'd be ten times better options (not that i'm seriously considering them for the job).

If there going down the non-gaa player route tomas o'leary playing rugby for London Irish captained a cork all-Ireland minor winning hurling team that contained john Gardiner and setanta o'halpin

I love the assumption that some have on here that you need to have played the game at some high level or achieved something of note to somehow be qualified to commentate on that game or analyse it. Jesus maybe people shouldnt even have an opinion unless they have pulled on a county jersey of some description.

they will probably poach the RTE guys by offering them more money, so you will see the likes of Michael Lyster,Joe Brolly,Spillane and O' Rourke on there

I can see a few players not long out of the game taking up the roles - like Carragher, Neville and Redknapp.

Love to see Jason Sherlock, Paul Galvin and Mossy Quinn at it.
Think Kevin Moran is more than qualified for the role and can see him in there.
Donal Og is brilliant in the hurling, just have to remember the accents, the Brits find it hard enough to understand Carragher.

Definitely see a few Irish soccer players thrown in every so often - Roy Keane, Niall Quinn, Long, Coleman, O'Shea. Especially when their counties are involved. Would help put a familiar face to the sport although think Quinn would just make people switch off.

Think it would be an idea to invite an injured player from the panel in when the match is on as well, like they do in the soccer. Get a not-so sit on the fence analysis.

I am excited to see what they do with it anyway!

Would expect Jason Sherlock to be involved as a pundit or as an analyst in the midweek show. I think Graham Geraghty and Padraic Joyce would be good. Maybe even Michael Meehan. Stevey McDonnell wouldn't be bad as the resident ulsterman, which means all you would need now is your Kerry man. Eoin Brosnan, Paul Galvin or Mike Frank Russell.

Also, why the hell would they go for non-gaa people for a GAA show. Catch yourselves on.

100% agree with Tyroneed. Parkinson talks a lot of guff but he brings entertainment value. Senan Connell needs to be kept off the airwaves as in my opinion he always sits on the fence.

Tend to agree with people who've suggested Sherlock & Sean Og.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Niall Quinn involved too, currently employed Sky and a familiar names with English & Irish audiences. I'd expect them to approach Donal Og Cusack at some stage too.

Tomsmith here

I implore Sky to look no further than Hogan Stand for TV analysers .
If you take the level of contribution that is made on this board about players , fixtures , referees, grounds we sure have a wealth of knowledge.
Take Liam from Walkinstown, Sna from Cill Maintain , Horse all good pundits, and I would be available most weekends other that when Cavan are at home to offer my expert advice on all matters.
