Gooch injury?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

mark my words, the gooch being treated at santry will not be a good news story, I have heard horror story after horror story regarding that place, under staffed, decisions rushed and large amount of the patients contract infections in it. I really do not know where it has got this name for top class sports surgery. Saying that I wish the gooch all the best

He has a fracture as well... Actually makes more sense than an ACL but that's a disaster for him. It'll be ages before he can even have the reconstruction now.

Hard to believe what looked like a fairy innocuous, albeit late, challenge led to a fractured knee and a bad cruciate injury, especially considering Colm's always been lucky with injuries. Hopefully his recovery goes well.

Have any of you read this today. :::::Irish Independent.
Having looked at the incident countless times over,I think it's fair to say that it was a dangerous and reckless tackle that contributed to his cruciate injury last weekend.

Blocking is a dying art in Gaelic football. From my own experience at senior level, only one manager worked on blocking with us at training- and that was at club level. The skill requires timing, technique and courage.
Attempting to block Gooch from that angle and at that speed was risky and the Castlebar player turned his body the wrong way, which meant his shoulder and back collided with Gooch's legs.
This incident highlights the need for managers to put greater emphasis on practising skills like blocking at training.
A good block can be inspirational and lift a team, much like a well -timed shoulder to shoulder challenge.
However, technique and timing need to be executed correctly and that won't happen without practice and coaching.

That article was in today's Irish Independent, What are your thoughts and was it in your opinion a reckless and careless tackle ?? I did not see it myself.
