The Armagh/Tyrone 2003 final had everything. It was a tough, physical game with some great scores and a match Armagh really threw away. Diarmuid Marsden's very unfair dismissal turned the game.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You obviously weren't watching the same game that I was. It was a dull, nervous affair in which both sides underperformed. Tyrone missed 4-5 good goal chances long before Marsden's sending off or Gormley's block. I was delighted with the result but, in all honesty, it was a poor final. Now the AI semi final between the sides in 2005, that was a different story...

I'd take dull any day if it meant winning our first All Ireland senior football title remember ever game Tyrone Armagh played in that era wasn't all dull but on a day when your going for your first and Armagh determent to hold onto their title it wasn't going to be champagne football worst final the ones wee lost !.

I don't think I have enjoyed any football final that Dublin didn't win! Some desperate games. Armagh winning in 2002 and Tyrone in 2003 were memorable but more for the occasion than the games themselves.

There have been some brilliant hurling finals. Last year was among best as were 2009 and 2010 Cats/Tipp and the drawn game in 2012. Offaly/Limerick was possibly most amazing finish. Wexford and Clare winning in 1996 and 1995 were good too.

My favorite finals was centenary final and 2007 against cork , the worst final was loosing unfairly to Dublin in 2011 the biggest rob job in the GAA.

Best ones i have seen were Armagh v Kerry 2002, Tyrone v Kerry 05 and 2008. 08 was a great game. People forget that. 1999 meath v cork was a good game. 1998 was a great game between galway and kildare. Hurling finals in 2009, 2010, 2012 x2, 2013 x2 were amazing games to witness. Generally Hurling games are better to watch.
The worst ones were 2006 where game was over in 10 minutes, 2007 was another non contest, 2012 and 2013 were boring to watch as somehow ya knew Mayo were going to mess it up. 2010 was boring as well. Felt there was no atmosphere at that one.

2011......Kerry were on top....coasting.....

And when Dublin got motoring Kerry couldnt stop it. Robjob? Seem to remember "steal" some games in the last 20 years. But good teams are always a bit lucky.

juniorbsub, that is brilliant contribution.

Hurling: 2009 final was without a doubt the greatest final, the standard of hurling in that match was the highest ever. Followed closely by 1996 final ;) Worst was KK/Limerick or KK/Waterford.

Football: Armagh v Tyrone was the best I can remember. Worst was any of those ones in mid-2000's when Mayo got a hiding.

1982 final was an unbelieveable final to be at for sheet drama and atmosphere. Best final I was as was 1998 between Kildare and Galway, very open and exciting game with some fantastic scores.

Worst final? Any final that Mayo were involved in these past 30 years. And that's not being bitchy. Painful to have gone to finals and on a few occasions feeling like they were over after 10 minutes.

In football, most memorable finals are the Dublin vs Kerry games of the 70's, Meath vs Down in '91,Tyrone vs Kerry 2008. Worst was either Kerry vs Roscommon or Meath vs Cork in '90, 60+ frees in that one.
Any of the hurling finals are better to watch than the football, possible exceptions being Kilkenny vs Waterford and Tip vs Antrim. Last years final was exceptional, other most memorable one was 1998 Offaly vs Limerick and then any of several Cork Vs Kilkenny games.
