Ormond as those above have noticed, your entire post responding to me is nonsense. Rugby players do skill training 2-3 times a week max. Game saturday, sunday off, pool recovery and game analysis monday, gym and skills tuesday, wednesday off, gym thursday, captains run friday, game saturday is a typical week! The IRBs document on concussion available on their website (the only info they provide on what is a big and serious problem) is years out of date whilst the irfu continue to send coaches to schools in belfast to talk about strength and conditioning but never about concussion which has caused significant upset as detailed in an excellent article in the telegraph last week. As you seem to get your limited knowledge from the irish independent you are probably unaware of all of this. You really should read this and inform yourself of the big problems in the game you love, instead of just reading about where BoD and his wife last dined.

What are calling skills work and what do you think they only do twice a week
Pool recovery for most would be day after game not a rest day then recovery.
That is not a typical week for a pro. more a typical week for an amateur, a week like that is more like what an amateur playing senior club rugby does than a pro.
Pros are on recovery days, pool and land work, on day after game so if game is Saturday that work is done Sunday. Monday would be games analysis and work based on that game analysis as well as gym work.
They do way more pitch work than that as only 1 main day is not what they do as its not enough to cover all work needed especially when they have to cover what next opposition are doing as well as improve on what was bad against previous opposition.
Most physical workout will be Tuesday/Wednesday depending on when games due to be played

Eh there is IRFU staff sent in to all clubs/schools regularly. Development staff and academy staff all regularly talk about concussion and get briefed on what to say by IRFU medical staff as well as outside medical staff

Ormond I know what the typical pro rugby players day is from knowing some players and what i described is fairly standard. However as I know your debating style I felt it best to use a source you could find yourself so my example is taken straight from an interview done with lee byrne (grand slam winner) for a fitness magazine that can easily be found on line. I wont debate the issue of the irfu sending strength and conditioning coaches to belfast scools to talk to young boys but nobody to talk to them about concussion as im still unsure if you are a troll. However an excellent, well researched article was produced in a UK paper last week where teachers and parents both suggested that to be the case. I do hope they are wrong though and you are right, but judging by your track record and general knowledge I am very doubtful.

As in if you saw one of them lining up to clear a ball you wouldn't be certain there not going to slice it or anything. Being able to kick a football isn't much of a help in rugby. I'd say the only transferable skill is fielding the ball like Rob Kearney does.

Im friends with a considerable proportion of squad members across several provinces and elsewhere.
Trevor Hogan, former pro, is a good friend of mine and is my clubs senior coach
A few mates of my brothers are academy members in Connacht and Munster - Jack O Donoghue, John Madigan, Rory Parata,
A few mates of mine are contracted on development and full contracts - JP Cooney, Luke O Dea
Im in college in Galway - back in first arts and a considerable number of first year academy members in Connacht are in that course like Parata, Sean O Brien and I know them quite well as this stage
All would say totally different to you.
And That is not a standard week by any extent. Skills work is incorporated into the week much more than anything you described.
academy players are in gym every day and do pitch work every day as well as play match a week

Im not describing it though Ormond, Lee Byrne and the Welsh and Ospreys fitness coach are in an article freely available on the internet from a few years ago. If you can provide anything different id be interested to see it. Considering Wales have been the most successful home nation in the last 6 years, maybe you should let your fine list of friends know about the article?

And Trevor Hogan was with the best non international side in the past 5 years so he doesn't need to know about that article as he's been with a top side and doesn't need anything different to be shown to him as he's been in a nigh on perfectly ran organisation

Ormond, I am sure everyone is fed up with our discussion on what was a good thread. Therefore I wont continue this except to say that there is even an article by Rob Kearney, one of your hero Trevor Hogans ex squadmates available on the internet and that is easily found which describes his week in detail. Again it is very similar to that of Lee Byrne, including the day off after a game. On all aspects in this thread you have been talking nonsense, based on nothing it would appear other than what you have been told in the student bar, while everything I have said is backed up by informed articles. Education levels are not what they used to be it seems...

Not talking nonsense at all. Strange I was in Nenagh last night and was talking to Trevor Hogan and he was agreeing with me, and Trevor isn't a hero of mine. He's a good friend but not a hero.
