1457823 In all honesty I think the GAA gets a fair crack from RTE & TV3. Yes we can quibble about the quality of some of it, but when you look at the number of live games, Sunday Game, Championship Matters, etc etc then GAA folk are well catered for especially during the championship season.
not on the news brodcasts.no gaa news 3 days before an all ireland semi final,is that fair?
Not getting coverage for semi finals on the main news 3 days before the games is hardly evidence of neglect. Newspapers have all had excellent coverage, radio, especially Newstalk, has been very good. Honestly, what more do people want??
well when they tell you news on wayne rooney not training in england,or a rugby coach taking ajob for amatch 2 months away or a parolympics update for 2016 and you dont mention a semi final in a compeition that will bring ahuge tv audience and over 60 thousand paying into see it 3 days before the match and make things worse rte actualy have it on their station live, could only imagine if they didnt show gaa matches live we would never hear of any news
Hill, if 3 days out from a GAA match, and there have been no teams named, the previous day they did a piece from both counties, and in 3 days they will be all over a match like a rash, why on earth should they do a piece on it?? If there is no new news on it, then its not likely to be in the news...is it?
I mean seriously man, what are you on about? What you really want is a Sky Sports News type set up for GAA i'd say
Hill I think the biggest flaw in your argument is the national interest in the club championships
Club GAA is big locally to local people, but any given club is irrelevant to 99% of the country Be it Ballyboden, Ballina Stephenites, Salthill Knocknacarra or Navan O'Mahonys, the truth is that the vast majority in this country couldnt care less whats happening in the club championship in other counties and most couldnt care less about the scene in their own county.
The GAA as a product could not support anything like what you are suggesting, especially once the Autumn sets in
The Rugby provinces draw support from huge bases of population, clubs draw support from their parish only. To compare the interest in them nationally is absolutely futile. A man from Roscommon can sit down and watch Munster play ospreys and have a real interest in seeing how it goes, but in all honesty he is very unlikely to sit down and wactch Newcastle West play Fr Caseys in a Limerick Senior Football championship match

its called the irish sports news its the irish national news station. why should wayne rooney training or not training take more importance then an all ireland semi final? its 3 years till the parolympic games why should it take more importance then a match 3 days away. when the irish soccer or rugby team are playing on a weekend all week before hand they have every day an update on that game.

thats not true at all. the club championships are massive and thats the point its supposed to be local there clubs, you may be differant living in limerick its not your own county but i know a lot of country guys who love the dublin club championship and go to all their local teams matches. your measuring four rugby provinces against hundreds of club gaa teams. rugby teams like munster and leinster must be surely compared to an inter county team when measuring.
