Tullamore is an outstanding ground and an excellent template for counties looking for a 20'000 capacity, Newry and Armagh are also excellent grounds and if they extended the roof in Breffini Park it would be well up there too. Worst would be Newbridge and Drogheda and I doubt those from Kildare and Louth here would disagree, Pairc Ui Chaoimh is in a shocking state and is downright dangerous given its access and egress points so the sooner a bulldozer visits the place the better, the stand in Navan is in a shocking state and needs urgent demolition as well, MacHale park has a lovely new stand but it cost a fortune and they should put new terraces behind the goals there instead of those God awful concrete seats

waynoI - The Paric down in Cork is going to be leveled or so I was told unless any cork poster can confirm the story there?

I think its only the current covered stand that's going to be levelled and rebuilt. The rest is just going to be refurbished, with the current uncovered stand getting a roof. I think.

I know several Offaly people who say Tullamore was the greatest waste of money ever by their county board. It is a fantastic ground for a neutral, but I guess you have to look after your own first. They maintain that they should have built a better ground in Birr, which is where all the hurling is played. Catch 22 I guess.

Best: Breffni Park, Cavan, it's the best I've seen recently. Tullamore is also very good.

Worst: Drogheda or Pairc Tailteann are the two worst I've been to.

They must all have been from Birr so! The county board took out a 35 year lease on Tullamore as it needed much less work than Birr. Birr GAA club still own St Brendans Park though. They are right, all the hurling should be played there. The ground is big enough to hold any league game and with a small bit of work on the terraces and the exits it would be good enough for championship too. You alwyas get a great atmosphere in Birr, even for club games. The atmosphere in Tullamore is dead 99% of the time

Have to agree with the praise Tullamore is getting, it's a great little ground, they've really spent the money well.

The worst would have to be Aughrim or our own Pairc Tailteann, they're a disgrace in this day and age. Navan in particular I'm pissed about because your're county grounds is something I think you naturally take pride in and ours is a joke, a shed with seating (planks!) one side, a pile of rubble called a terrace the other and a lovely grass bank behind each goal........for shame!!!

There has been a lot of confusing and downright information coming out of the Cork County Board. The last pictures released however seem to suggest, that it will actually be rebuilt from the ground up. I wouldn't expect less for €76,000,000. Supporters in Cork are as confused about it as everyone else. Watch the space that is Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

does nobody else think they should have finished off tullamore though when they went as far as they did.
the end you come in is flat grass and takes the look away from the rest of the ground, they went to the bother of putting in a small terrace behind the far goal they could easily do the same at the road end.
have to say cannot understand people slating killarney i think its a brilliant stadium which should get far more use only for its location geographically.gaelic grounds in limerick is also anoher brilliant ground which up until this year seen very little big matches.breffni park is a ground i really like too it should be an example to most countys its size is perfect for a lot of ulster matches.leinster and connaught seem to be getting hard end of the stick in terms of ground renovations.i suppose leinster has croke park to cover every base needed but dublin, kildare and meath 3 big crowd pullers all have grounds with very little capacitys, then wicklow and louth have even smaller run down grounds and westmeaths is tiny also.
mchale park for me is ruined by the way they done either end of the ground, surely a terrace should have been used instead.

That end of Tullamore was always flat grass as I remember, never even a bank there so in essence she has always been a three sided ground although many too stand along the railing behind the goal and along the turnstiles, maybe in time they may put a terrace there a small one would do fine as she has a decent capacity already, definitely one if the best stands built outside of Croke Park too. Yeah Killarney is massive, the new terracing behind the goal has superb views and I understand the other goal end is due an upgrade too, maybe more covered searing wouldn't go astray but in fairness it's a fantastic venue, I agree totally about the goal ends in Mac Hale Park, Mayo people correct me if I'm wrong but I think that all seater effort was done in the 90's, can't understand why the don't just regrade the steps put up barriers and leave it as terracing, I'm sure Mayo people would prefer that too

Quite like McHale and quite dislike Pearse (though the general location can't be bet: what's better than the walk on the prom on your way to the game, and a few pints in O'Connors after?)

Our own Gaelic Grounds is unbeatable when packed out, unfortunately that doesn't happen very often! Would not be disappointed if the All-Ireland final was held in Semple Stadium either, an unreal place to go, every GAA fan should go there at least one in their lifetime. Pearse Park in Longford is also a gem of a ground.

Don't really like McHale Park or Pairc Uí Chaoimh.
