Tullamore is an outstanding ground and an excellent template for counties looking for a 20'000 capacity, Newry and Armagh are also excellent grounds and if they extended the roof in Breffini Park it would be well up there too. Worst would be Newbridge and Drogheda and I doubt those from Kildare and Louth here would disagree, Pairc Ui Chaoimh is in a shocking state and is downright dangerous given its access and egress points so the sooner a bulldozer visits the place the better, the stand in Navan is in a shocking state and needs urgent demolition as well, MacHale park has a lovely new stand but it cost a fortune and they should put new terraces behind the goals there instead of those God awful concrete seats Richieq (Meath) - Posts: 3747 - 08/08/2013 16:01:36 1456727 Link 0 |

I know several Offaly people who say Tullamore was the greatest waste of money ever by their county board. It is a fantastic ground for a neutral, but I guess you have to look after your own first. They maintain that they should have built a better ground in Birr, which is where all the hurling is played. Catch 22 I guess. Pinkie (Wexford) - Posts: 4100 - 08/08/2013 16:45:36 1456789 Link 0 |
Best: Breffni Park, Cavan, it's the best I've seen recently. Tullamore is also very good. Lebowski (Meath) - Posts: 363 - 08/08/2013 17:06:32 1456814 Link 0 |
They must all have been from Birr so! The county board took out a 35 year lease on Tullamore as it needed much less work than Birr. Birr GAA club still own St Brendans Park though. They are right, all the hurling should be played there. The ground is big enough to hold any league game and with a small bit of work on the terraces and the exits it would be good enough for championship too. You alwyas get a great atmosphere in Birr, even for club games. The atmosphere in Tullamore is dead 99% of the time tonorio (Offaly) - Posts: 609 - 08/08/2013 17:09:23 1456817 Link 0 |

Have to agree with the praise Tullamore is getting, it's a great little ground, they've really spent the money well. Htaem (Meath) - Posts: 8657 - 08/08/2013 18:44:23 1456934 Link 0 |

Quite like McHale and quite dislike Pearse (though the general location can't be bet: what's better than the walk on the prom on your way to the game, and a few pints in O'Connors after?) festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3148 - 08/08/2013 20:46:08 1457065 Link 0 |
Our own Gaelic Grounds is unbeatable when packed out, unfortunately that doesn't happen very often! Would not be disappointed if the All-Ireland final was held in Semple Stadium either, an unreal place to go, every GAA fan should go there at least one in their lifetime. Pearse Park in Longford is also a gem of a ground. bob_dolphin (Limerick) - Posts: 694 - 08/08/2013 21:51:27 1457134 Link 0 |
