Culann, go to page 9, you'll see that there's more people in Dublin than there are in Munster and twice as many as Connacht. Obviously not all these play Gaa but you can't argue that dublin don't have a greater pick.
Nor have I or am I arguing that. You obviously have not read my posts and do not understand what is being debated here.

1443707 I haven't followed this page but I just came to the last page and seen someone saying Dublin clubs have 6 or 7 teams participate at each underage level, that is complete bs. We have two senior leagues 1 and 2 that we mostly pick from just like most counties. A lot of our senior clubs have a lot of country players and teams like Crokes and Brigids have teams in senior 1 and 2 so the Dublin pick isn't as big as everyone thinks.
but in reality, those senior leagues are full of players chosen from a greater population base than would be the case in other counties.
In my own club, for example, i would say we have about 50 men over 18 who have played football relatively regularly from a young age. Because of the low population, these guys, no matter how good or bad they are, generally got game time due to a lack of numbers and therefore made it to senior level but never good enough to play intercounty. We maybe have 3/4 guys maximum in most clubsin cavan who are good enough to make the county panel and then clubs with no players good enough.
Then you take Dublin. . . Huge numbers to chose from at a young agegroup. But the lesser players fall by the wayside as they get to 16, 17 etc. . By the time you get to senior level, clubs have a panel of 30-35 very good footballers. Throw in those from the country who feature on many Dublin club teams and the competition for places is fierce. Meaning you have those two senior leagues where you are simply going to have more of a pool of intercounty standard players to pick from.
Add in the fact that these guys play each other so often and the standard is sure to improve, whereas in Cavan for example, some of out top players are not playing club football in the county (Eugene Keating at St. Sylvesters for example). This means that the players in cavan who are being selected for cavan are not getting the same level of competitive football at club level.

There is more people in Down than all of Connaught. Mr Cromwell was right when he said "To Hell or to Connaught"

At the end of the day, a big proprotion of the blame for there being so many people in the capital has to lie at the feet of the culchies who are failing to keep their people at home. There are thpusands of Mogh Eo folk in my county for example. I personally do want never mind them playing for our clubs. I'd be more than happy if master and co would take back Conor Mortimer in particular. Whats so special about our county that people from all over the country feel they have to come here and take our jobs, drink in our pubs, buy our houses etc etc. t makes me sick. People on here should have more respect.

Well if that is the case culann, then the next time a culchie comes into your pub to spend his/her hard earned money, dont take it from them...

good point. Or when the increased lotto grants find its way to your local club or whatever you might take time out to reflect on your 'extreme' proposed solutions to the Dublin GAA problems.

Correct in terms of population but with regard to GAA you'd have to knock off roughly 50% off all the populations of the wee 6 counties!!
