Seen there is a thread about the best Hurling freetaker, just wondering who everyone thinks is the best football freetaker? Will be interesting to see your views kildareman_dave (Kildare) - Posts: 111 - 17/07/2013 13:56:47 1434443 Link 0 |
Not seen that much on TV etc. but not many better than Paddy Cunningham of Antrim manonthemoon (USA) - Posts: 43 - 17/07/2013 14:05:05 1434460 Link 0 |

Would agree with Sheehan, don't think there is a sweeter striker of the ball in the game, Cluxton also very good from free's , rarely misses and as cool as ice kildareman_dave (Kildare) - Posts: 111 - 17/07/2013 14:08:27 1434469 Link 0 |

Michael Murphy is close to flawless within 60 yards these days! jamesjoyce (Derry) - Posts: 126 - 17/07/2013 14:11:49 1434476 Link 0 |
I was just about to make a thread about this, I reckon Daniel Goulding is the unsung hero of free takers, he is incredible from the ground. Sheehan and Cluxton deserve mentions, I probably would've had Stevo #1 but he has been flaky this season so far. CaisleanCnucha (Dublin) - Posts: 1379 - 17/07/2013 14:15:32 1434483 Link 0 |

Paddy Cunningham is fairly lethal from the hands with the left boot. Sheehan probably the best with the right boot. beir_bua (Kildare) - Posts: 746 - 17/07/2013 14:17:23 1434487 Link 0 |

Breffni I reckon you are judging him mainly on this season and Sunday in particular to be fair, where he missed about half his kicks but was also limping for parts of the game. Stevo is incredible from the ground and as cool as ice. CaisleanCnucha (Dublin) - Posts: 1379 - 17/07/2013 14:19:59 1434498 Link 0 |

He missed a good few when he started taking them as well. Not saying he's a bad freetaker and agree he kicks them under pressure, just pointing out that the statement "rarely misses" in the context of the best freetakers of all time doesn't bear scrutiny Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 12357 - 17/07/2013 14:33:33 1434524 Link 0 |
