jafallon was it not around this time in 2008 that Tyrone were trading around the 20s mark? I wouldn't say that the bookies are usually on the money around this time of year. Cork were clear favourites at this time last year. Donegal were around 4th or so if memory serves correctly.
The Dubs will always be short odds though due to the dedicated numbers of Dubs who will bet on them year after year

Sure every team that has ever won it has looked too big a price in hindsight. Donegal last year hadn't won it since 1992, had been hammered by Cork in years previous and had lost to Dublin the year before. There was no way they couldve been shorter in the betting than Cork Dublin and Kerry. Tyrone were in the qualifiers at that stage in 2008. At those very times they were likely the right price. Somebody had to win.

The team the bookies make favourite doesnt always win. Dublin are a 2/1 shot with most. The bookie's are saying they have a 33% of winning with those odds, and 66% chance of not winning. It's not saying they're even more likely to win than not. If they don't win this year, will you come on next year saying the bookies got it wrong?

@Sugardaddy, Mayo have a pathetic record in the All ireland series and Kerry don't. hence Kerry must be shorter. Mayo would be a shorter price to reach the final than Kerry. But until they actually win an AI, layers will always be willing to take them on.

@51longago

UCD hurlers were 1/500 to beat DCU in the group stages of the Fitzgibbon Cup earlier this year. They only won by 6 points in the end!

How they have Kerry shorter odds than Mayo is beyond me, are you telling me that the current Kerry team and management of Eamon Fitzmaurice is stonger than the Mayo setup, no chance. Now neither side holds the favourites tag at present with that going to Dublin but in my opinion the winner will most definitely come from either Dublin, Donegal or Mayo, they have all the attributes of an All Ireland winning team end of.

I think Kerry have a better chance than Mayo. Mayo won't win it as they are bottlers. Its between Dublin or Donegal.

Ja Fallon Donegal lost by 2 points to a side who went on to become All Ireland champions. McFadden had the opportunity to win the game for Donegal against them also. All I am trying to say is that normally at this time of year the side who are favourites do not go on to win it.

Kerry are 9/2 but Cork are 15/2 , I don't see the logic in that.

The logic is that Kerry are favourites to beat Cork Sunday, which means Cork will have an extra game to play to make the Quarter Finals, that game is an unknown quantity, hence the big price.

Ok,but I would say that Cork are almost guaranteed to make the 1/4s once they avoid Tyrone, and I would still fancy them against Tyrone. I suppose then they have to play Donegal/Mayo/Dublin (most likely) but this is all assuming they lose to Kerry, and I reckon they have a good chance against Kerry. I see the logic in them being higher but 15/2 is very generous.

I'm surprised everyone is ruling Kerry out. They will still have a big say in the cship. Expect them to get to the All Ireland if they avoid Dublin

And how do you suggest they do that? If they win their games, they are going to meet them in the semi, if they lose from here on, they are out...

They can't get to an All Ireland final without facing the Dubs (that's if An Mhí don't beat us on Sunday and I don't give an Mhí a chance in a billion).

How in Gods name are Kerry a shorter price than Donegal? Dublin and Donegal should be favourites. To be honest I dont think Mayo will do it.I think Kerry have a better chance of winning it than them
