I think Cork were normally favourites at this time of year. Only one success though. After the quarter finals is normally when the bookies get their pricing right. gotmilk (Fermanagh) - Posts: 4971 - 01/07/2013 11:42:43 1420156 Link 0 |
Donegal and Kerry look good value. Wouldn't back Dublin at 2/1. They may win it out but think Donegal and Kerry have as good a chance as them (if not better. Bookies prices would be skewed towards Dublin after yesterdays big win. Whoever wins Munster final next week will see their odds dip after the victory. If you're backing Kerry (or Cork for that matter) - get on them before the Munster final pdempsey (Mayo) - Posts: 1313 - 01/07/2013 11:49:20 1420171 Link 0 |
Cork are the value bet at the moment imo at 7/1. 51longago (Mayo) - Posts: 2981 - 01/07/2013 11:55:05 1420182 Link 0 |
The bookies always get the pricing right. The pricing doesnt always reflect the likelihood of the winner just the amount of money being placed by punters relative to other teams. Therefore if London beat Mayo in the Connacht final for instance it is the punters and not the bookies that will have got it wrong and the bookies will be laughing all the way to the bank. 4 Mayo men caught up in odds, looking for the quick buck!! I though I'd never see the say. On a side note, you omitted Galway from your odds.. Coming in at a cool 125/1, thats value. ahsure. (Galway) - Posts: 1660 - 01/07/2013 11:59:51 1420190 Link 0 |

In response to others there, the bookies would have their odds in or around right at all times, not just after the quarters. The odd bookie may overprice someone and value nay appear. By and large they have it right. The amount of money placed doesnt dictate the odds. It has an effect alright, but it doesn't work like that. It's very likely that Dublin are losers in every bookies book at the moment, but they can't cut Dublin shorter than 9/4 or so because that would simply be the wrong price and others would be too big as a result. And for the love of god, if you want to back, use oddschecker and take best price. Don't just go with your usual local jafallon (Galway) - Posts: 489 - 01/07/2013 12:14:44 1420221 Link 0 |

Dublin at 2/1 is very short when you consider that even if they do win Leinster they will still have to win three more games with Tyrone, Donegal, Mayo, Cork & Kerry all likely Q/F contenders MuckrossHead (Donegal) - Posts: 5028 - 01/07/2013 12:58:41 1420296 Link 0 |

jafallon was it not around this time in 2008 that Tyrone were trading around the 20s mark? I wouldn't say that the bookies are usually on the money around this time of year. Cork were clear favourites at this time last year. Donegal were around 4th or so if memory serves correctly. gotmilk (Fermanagh) - Posts: 4971 - 01/07/2013 13:51:13 1420422 Link 0 |
