Kerry v Cork

GaryMc82. I'd agree that teams will want to avoid Cork in the qualifiers, but the top teams Dublin & Donegal won't fear them in the least. By the way it wasn't a good 2nd half by Cork it was a good last 20 minutes. They were 9pts down after 15mins of 2nd half. You cannot play for just 20 minutes and hope to win anything.

kerry win despite refs best effort, if that free was given? 1 less point and maybe 1 for kerry, and that would have slowed down cork's chance of coming back

----
Don't think Kerry could complain about the referee. Cork not awarded a penalty for a trip and Galvin probably should have been sent off for a punch.

WHERE WAS NOEL O LEARY'S HAND AT THAT TIME? TRYING TO GET GALVIN IN A HEADLOCK?

good game for kerry, played well for most part but still are flying under the radar! the old leg saying is getting old! young enough kerry team today bar the two o'se brothers and galvin! very very smart tactics, the low ball in gave the advantage to the smaller forwards and kerry may have the tactics in mind with one eye on donegal! kerry were a bit complacent in the second half, two rash shots from poor positions by tomas while kerry were well ahead stick out! kerry were caught sleeping in the second half but had enough experience to see it out! when they bring this new style of football with an increased intensity to croker it should be very interesting!

Kerry played some real good football in the first half but that kind of open football will not work against the likes of dublin or donegal. We need to tighten up a lot especially the halfback line as when cork ran at us at speed we were in trouble. they should at least have 3 or 4 more points in the first half.Thought the fullback line played well with enright outstanding didnt give kerrigan much.I still think brosnan will be back at centerback for the next game.

in that case noel o leary should have gone , canty should have gone, galway hurler should have gone as well today, and a lot more kerry and cork players should have gone and lot more players should be sent off in gaa games, if you look at all off ball stuff that goes on and the "tackling" of players after they have passed the ball on?

Congratulations to Kerry on winning the Munster final today in what was at times a rather farcical encounter in Killarney. While I did not anticipate a Kerry victory today I don't believe I saw any potential All Ireland winners and was far from impressed. I remain firmly convinced of the view that this Kerry team will NOT win the All Ireland in 2013.

Kerry were allowed the run of midfield for over 45 minutes and in that time their forwards strolled around open country with the luxury of not only putting up a match winning score but could afford enough wastage as to make even an oil rich saudi sheikh blush. How Colm Mcfadden and Michael Murphy in Donegal to name but two would welcome the absolute luxury of being allowed to miss so much in a Championship game and get away with it!

While Kerry turned up eager and hungry and willing to play if they were allowed and they were for 45 minutes, Cork were an absolute shambles in the first half. The blame for this lies squarely with the Cork manager. I have never seen greater ineptitude at senior inter-county level from a management than those currently charged with preparing and selecting this Cork team.

Given the playing resources available to Cork it's hard to imagine any manager doing worse. One could write pages on what Conor Counihan did wrong today! The playing of Graham Canty at midfield for a major part of the game and the fact that he was left on until finish when he was clearly off the pace. The leaving of Ciaran Sheehan on the bench for far too long! The strange substitution timing of young Damien Callahan and the taking off of Donnaha O'Connor - it goes on and on!

Given how self destructive Cork were for so long it was amazing that when they got their act together they reeled in Kerry rather quickly. By the end, Kerry were on the ropes and time was their savior. When Cork got serious and had Alan O'Connor, Pearce O'Neill and Ciaran Sheehan on the field they reeled in Kerry in 20 minutes. It was then the clear weakness in the Kerry defence was there for all to undeniably see. Having wrestled midfield control off Kerry the Corkmen rampaged through the middle of the Kerry defence time and time again - imagine how the Dublin halfback line will enjoy the running lanes that the Kerry defence provide! The Kerry fullback line were also very vulnerable under the highball. How young Hurley and indeed the Cork supporters must wish more ball had been given his way earlier. And whisper it because we know how sensitive they are in Kerry about this but where was their go to forward in the last 20 minutes? Cooper went missing yet again when the Kerry need was greatest. Indeed Cooper's opposite number James Loughrey had a fine game in the second half had as he rampaged forward untouched and scored 2 points in the process.

Cork finished with a stronger team but the suspicion remains that their current manager is their greatest obstacle to being serious contenders. Kerry move on but they are a team clearly there for the taking. If Kerry end up playing Dublin in a semi-final which is real possibility and given what I've seen today and from Dublin all this year then Kerry are in for one hell of a humiliation in Croke Park. Mark my words.

I agree the very top sides like Mayo, Dublin and Donegal won't maybe fear Cork, but they would be weary of the rebels. Cork certainly have the ability/quality in their ranks to put any top side to the sword, and will be seen as a major threat to any of the Provincial champions in the All Ireland Quarter final's.

Conor Counihan needs to look at why the didn't start well today, and rectify it very quickly.

people say cork are the team to avoid, but if roles were reversed yesterday and kerry lost by same scoreline, what would they be saying?

Poor Munster Final

Have to say after expecting to see a good game yesterday between Cork and Kerry the game turned out very very poor. The amount of wides kicked by both sides from easy positions in close to goal was something to behold. They seemed to hit more wide from easy positions unmarked than they put over. The only silver lining was Kerry's high fielding in the first half, but it was a poorly fought, inaccurate complete turkey of a game. They both have some major improving to do or will get dumped out by the first hungry team they come up against. This game was supposed to be the crown jewel in a Munster championship of wash-outs and it wasn't much better.

Congrats to Kerry. Disappointing game for a Munster final. Cork a complete shambles in the 1st half and Kerry made it look that way. Not quite a complete reversal in the 2nd half but not far off. Impossible to tell how good either of these sides are after this affair. On the face of it, the only way either of these sides will get to a semi is with a handy draw from the qualifiers.

Well done to Kerry on a truly deserved win. On the referee, I would not criticise him too much. I don't think he had much of a bearing on the game overall. Unfortunately, he got one call very very wrong; that being the Gooch's outstanding tackle on James Loughrey. Obviously we benfitted immediately as we got a point. Alas, with GAA refs, you don't really benefit at all. I am sure, realizing the error of his ways, he did not want to upset Kerry players further and the best way to do that is make it up to them. If you look at the very next point that Kerry scored it was a very soft free (not as blatant as the Gooch tackle but nonetheless very soft). In fact for the 5 minutes after Gooch-gate all frees went to Kerry-some were dubious.

To his credit, he really only got the Gooch call wrong. I imagine he possibly realized he was wrong as most players do not protest in the way Kerry players did after committing a foul these days (given the way the game is played). The Kerry players were rightly outraged. Obviously the ref was not going to change his mind. Should they get extra support from TV refs or something like that to help them out.

Congrats to Kerry but where do they go from here? If they get a handy quarter-final draw, maybe Kildare or Meath or a team like that, Dublin await in the semi-final. I'd say that wouldn't he pretty from a Kerry point of view.
