jafallon give it a rest. Tom Langan was held in similar regards as a FF and didnt get a sniff in the voting, stop complaining.

Has to be the Mac all day. Admin could you give us a breakdown of the team if you were to exclude votes cast by people from their own county. I am just wondering if it has an influence on it.

For example if all the Tyrone votes for Canavan were taken away would he still be 14? Or is that to big of an ask?

Admin; I'm with you on that one: pound for pound there was no better corner forward than John Egan; strong as a bull, hard but fair, fearless yet skilful and a great team player and a vital component of the great Kerry team

Trevor Giles- has won everything there was to win. All stars Player of the year twice, Texeco Player of the year, 3 all-stars, All Ireland Minor, u21, All Ireland Senior, 5 senior medals with Skryne, 1st when only 17 and last when he was 37. His record speaks for itself.

As people have stated there is no way trevor giles can be considered the greatest center half forward ever as purcell takes that honour.. however between mcdonald and giles my vote maybe with some bias goes to giles everyday of the week.. 2 extremely classy 11's with brillian passing range and scoring ability! Giles consistency, work rate and medal haul makes him superior for me! my issue here is with ClondalkinDub or whatever... Alan Dillion, Alan Brogan and CILLIAN O'CONNOR better players than giles in this position? are you having a laugh? what a ridiculous statement

Trevor Giles, easily better than the inconsistent McDonald.

Trevor Giles. Works harder than Mc Donald who could be accused of being a highlights player.

Re jafallon--Yeah I know where you are coming from. Of course, by all accounts, Sean Purcell was a better centre half forward than the two guys.

We started this competition, after many requests from readers, with the idea of picking the Greatest Team ever. But what materialised was a team from the internet age. Not many on here saw the great Tuam man playing.

For me the greatest corner forward, no disrespect to Maurice Fitz, was John Egan of Kerry, but the Sneem man slipped outside the time of the computer user and hence hardly a mention.

Sad but thats life, things move on. There was a tie with Ciaran and Trevor and this vote remains between the two.

Fair enough Admin. Just strange to see Mick O'Connell get the credit and not Sean, when the two go hand in hand as the greatest of all time. As for this vote, if we're counting free taking the I'd go with Giles, otherwise McDonald. Seeing as we should probably include the whole package, my vote goes to Giles.

@themaster, Langan was a great player but he was never mentioned in the same breath as the greats - Spillane, O'shea, Purcell and o'connor. That's an unfair comparison. I realise that older players would be left out, I just always thought people would remember the consensus greatest ever. Even my fellow Galway men were nominating Donnellan and my namesake, who great as they were shouldn't be the first that came to mind.

Especially glad to see Spillane get recognition from reading the thread. His controversial opinion as a panelist sometimes makes people forget how good he was
