No 14 has to be Padraig Joyce. In my eyes the greatest player to ever adorn the maroon and white. An absolute legend and has to make any best of team.

This is my first post on this topic. The choices so far have been all pretty fair in my opinion. Trevor Giles however I believe should be the centre forward by himself. His vision was outstanding and the one thing that made him different to McDonald was that if the simple pass was the most beneficial pass for the team then that was the pass he made.Gooch I think is the most complete forward to play the game. His record is every bit as good as canavans actually a bit better if we are only talking senior football.Aswell as being a lethal finisher the gooch is also a fantastic maker of scores for other forwards where i believe canavan was primarily a finisher. I have always believed we would only see his true genius if he moved to the middle of the 40. The move has been made so hopefully we will see him dominate the position for a few years.

Peter Canavan gets my vote at 14, between him and the Gooch as the two greatest forwards I've ever seen play. If I seen Matt Conor I might say different but I never seen him play.

Yep it was probably a foregone conclusion, the one and only Gooch gets the number 13 shirt.

See many votes in already for the full forward spot. Plenty of top class players to choose from.

My own choice, Down great Sean O Neill.

Was originally a wing forward but as the old legs got a little slower Sean found himself on the edge of the square.

Brilliant football brain, knew all the tricks and was the main reason why the Mournes won their third and also Seans third All Ireland in 68.

But hey I am a little unfair here, the vast majority online never saw O Neill in action but keep the votes coming

No.14 Peter Canavan
Special mention must go to Frank McGuigan,
Matt Conor, Padraig Joyce and Graham Geraghty,
but Canavan is the greatest footballer I have
ever seen.

It's Peter Canavan here for me. Perhaps some younger posters didn't see him at his best (before the injury in 1996), but in that 1992-96 era he was simply unmarkable.

In my opinion, what elevates Canavan over Cooper, Connor, Sheehy, Fitzgerald and other great inside forwards was his leadership and ferocious will to win. Peter Canavan was a leader of men and made everyone on his side so much better just by being there. To my eyes, the best inside forward ever to play the game.

Isn't this for the no.14/full forward slot? Why are people voting for the Gooch who was clearly a corner forward at 13? Haven't we already voted for no.13?

Anyway I wasn't around during the time of the great Kerry team of the 70's/early 80's or the Meath team of the late 80's for that matter so my vote will be based on the last 15-20 years. My own shortlist would have to include Padraig Joyce, Stephen O'Neill, Peter Canavan, Steven McDonnell, Graham Geraghty.

Geraghty was an all rounder and could play anywhere on the forward line. He had electrifying pace, fantastic skill and very accurate with either foot. He'd have my vote only I wouldn't have called him an out and out full forward. He'd have got my vote at number 10 or 12.

There's only one other man who stands out in my mind as being the best full forward I've ever seen anyway. Peter Canavan gets my vote at number 14. Intelligence, skill, accuracy and bottle. A true leader and well worthy of the number 14 vote.

So many great players to choose from - Eoin Bomber Liston (Kerry), Jimmy Keaveney (Dublin), Brian Stafford (Meath), Tom Langan (Mayo) but I am going to go for the one player who was almost impossible to mark and who could kick a ball over the bar from any angle with with either foot.

My vote for full forward is Cork's Colin Corkery.
