I'll go with Moynihan again. I chose him at #3 but he was such a bloody good footballer he was wasted in there. No better man at number 6. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 10375 - 11/06/2013 12:27:56 1403970 Link 0 |

The best I have seen would be Kevin Moran, Seamus Moynihan and Glenn Ryan, and out of that trio I would go for Glenn. However, from what I have heard I would have to pick the Gallant John Joe. The Cavan stalwart who graced the playing fields of Kildare with his presence while stationed in the Curragh. They still talk about him in these parts as the greatest. bryanadams (Kildare) - Posts: 733 - 11/06/2013 12:44:19 1404004 Link 0 |

Hope admin does not mind me coming on so often. Just am a bit older than most here and saw many of the older stars. Auldfella (Meath) - Posts: 472 - 11/06/2013 12:45:28 1404006 Link 0 |

Moynihan played all his football for Kerry in the half back line except for his cameo at full back between 2000 & 2004 As much as an outstanding full back he was,The years of 05 & 06 he was incredible in the no.6 jersey. shea (Kerry) - Posts: 409 - 11/06/2013 12:57:32 1404022 Link 0 |

Cavan's legendary John Joe O'Reilly is my choice here. Other greats that I'd consider would be Jack Higgins (Kildare), Gerry O'Malley (Roscommon), Bill Casey (Kerry), Henry Downey (Derry) and Kieran McGeeney (Armagh). Thomas Clarke (Tyrone) - Posts: 1002 - 11/06/2013 14:14:50 1404113 Link 0 |

Some great men contending for this position as other posters have already alluded to but I have to choose the one man who had very few peers in the modern game: Cute_Kerry_Hoor (Kerry) - Posts: 2518 - 11/06/2013 14:35:22 1404130 Link 0 |

Was always a great fan of Seamus Moynihan of Kerry but the great and Gallant John Joe O'Reilly from Cavan has few peers. So John Joe for centre back then!! BreffniDub (None) - Posts: 377 - 11/06/2013 15:59:15 1404229 Link 0 |

I have always been a fan of McGeeney even if he boke my heart in 2002. he had all the qualities for leadership and captain, but as he good as he was he wasn;t a patch on the Pony. Seamus Moynihan was head and shoulders above any player I have ever seen play for any team, pound for pound one of the best players to ever grace a gaa field. It has to be John Joe O Reily at Number 6. DHaise (Cavan) - Posts: 65 - 11/06/2013 16:17:19 1404251 Link 0 |

Same as Lockjaw above. I went for Moynihan at full back but seeing as he didn't get that spot I'll go for him at centre back. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13846 - 11/06/2013 16:25:04 1404262 Link 0 |
