Competition: choose the greatest football team ever

Sean Marty Lockhart - Derry

Partly on the basis that most of my other considerations are virtually unknowns here (Sean Flanagan Mayo, Robbie Kelleher of Dublin and Paudie Lynch Kerry) and partly because he could hurl too proving just because he played football didn't mean he wasn't skillfull :)

Administrator: whilst it is a fascinating topic and debates will rankle about who's who and what position, once the "online generation" team has been picked,it might be useful to invite a comparison from the likes of Eugene McGee/ Micheal O Miureairtaigh to the Team of the Millenium from 99 given that both these esteemed gentlemen would have at least witnessed the previous generation against all the current nominees could give an informed comparison of the two teams. I know that I have only seen 3 of the team of the millennium play in the flesh whereas these two would have probably seen all of the past and current nominees.

Mick kennedy ! tough but fair pity he missed out on an all ireland medal in 1983 due to injury ! and he was consistently good for the dubs !

Stephen O Brien of Cork who literally could play anywhere. He won All-Ireland medals in this position but would be an automatic on any team of great players in several positions. One of the true giants of the game

Karl Lacey is one of the tightest man markers I ever saw when he was playing in the corner so he gets my vote. Although I never actually seen him play I heard Tony Scullion was an animal too!

Since Marc O Se has started playing for Kerry he's always marked the dangerman/best player in the full forward line for example he marked Bernard Brogan in the '11 final and Tom O Sullivan marked Connolly. My vote goes to Conor Gormley he always wore 6 but nearly always played corner back and he always did a great man to man marking job on the Gooch and whoever else was the oppositions danger man. Great player who would do anything to win.

Why are we still on the right-fullback position?
