No preview of either Monaghan v Antrim or Louth v Wexford games, very belittling to all these counties.

It was brutal tonight! Marty wasted best part of 10 minutes asking John Tennyson if he'll ever return to the KK team. And then we just had a few minutes previewing the Offaly v KK and Wexford v Dublin hurling matches. And nothing about the football matches this coming weekend!

Holy jaysus, how boring was that. That's half an hour of my life I will never get back.

This was unbelievably bland. Sat down with my father and watched it there. Both looked at each other in disbelief afterwards. Lasted a mere 20 minutes, a break in the middle of that. A look at how people in Croke Park were coming to terms with Hawkeye, a technological product which is designed to work anyway and hardly merits the kind of cringeworthy trepidation over its effectiveness. You would swear they were watching a 16 year old lad coming into a senior team hoping it would pan out ok. Box office stuff! Marty's pointless questioning of John Tennyson...if you got asked to play for another county John.. Holy God.

Championship Matters, a very misleading title for a programme!

Its a chat show where people discuss gaelic games. What do ye want? Perhaps Marty could do a few magic tricks to liven up the show,or how about having a few half naked pole dancers in the background while the guests are talking.
On a serious note though,is anyone else getting annoyed at the way Gaa players use the words "y'know" and "I suppose" every two seconds?

Last night had to be the worst ever program of championship matters, usually I don't mind it but last night was terrible.

Thats the thing. The Louth/Wexford and Antrim/Monaghan games where not discussed. Half an hour is too short. It should be an hour.

he spent most the night asking a kilkenny player would he evr play for any other team.
they showed hawkeye thing for another lengthy period and didnt even preview the weekends football games?
its awful they should simply concentrate on the games, just look at seo spoirt hey manage to talk about things and give lengthy previews on each match.

He didn't spend "most of the night' talking to Tennyson about playing for another county. It lasted about 30 seconds really. They talked a bit about the weekends hurling games in fairness to them.

The first series was great when it came out in 2007.

Joncarter, you seem to be content with the show, because he talked about hurling. The footballers of Antrim,Monaghan,Louth and Wexford deserve more than what they got last night. As Ollie said, the show is too short, but all games could of been discussed, if we didnt have that pointless report on Hawk eye.

Would have to agree with 97Cavans

Seó Spóirt on TG4 is probably the best match review, preview & discussion show that we have on our screens at the minute.

Totally agree , have been watching for some time , not looking to be sensational just Honest punditry other shows need to take a leaf , stunned that very few tune in .

Bring back Breaking Ball! Very good magazine type show in late 90s/early 00s.

Championship Matters is a sad sad effort of a program. Dull, boring and bland. No life or real discussion to the program. Problem is RTE have no real journalists.

Marty spent the program trying to get John Tennyson to say he retired because of a row with Cody, and then asks would he hurl for another county. Just trying to stir things because they really have no clue!!

Hire some gives over from SKY they know how to push and promote a sport on TV

Actually the Committee Room was a helluva lot better during its solitary season run.

Breaking Ball was good Cute Kerry Hoor - and that was even shown on Sky so those who were outside of Ireland had a chance to see some kind of highlights of the games.
