What will be this years championship controversy?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

You cant predict controversy but you can be sure that any 50/50 decision that goes Dublins way will be seized upon by the media, and then used as an excuse by the opposing fans to cover up the fact that they weren't good enough to beat the Dubs.

Beal , why would ye want Tyrone to give up the puke football ?
It'd be only yourselves and donegal left playing it then !
Ye could never match us playing beautiful football and ye won't beat them playing the s---- stuff .
Galway to beat Tyrone in the All Ireland !

The question asked was what will thisyear's controversy be.

1391023

Your scenario wouldn't be controversial.

It'd be miraculous.

Read my opening post on this thread of my own creation and behold the master of all men when it comes to the GAA!......and I still only scored an A+ in the 'What kind of GAA supporter are you' questionaire!!

I am never wrong!
No, there was actually one time when I thought I was wrong about something....but I was wrong!

1391073 Tyrone to beat Donegal tomorrow. Then for Mayo to beat Donegal in the quarters, Tyrone in the semi and Dublin in the final; at which point people will say Mayo had a soft All Ireland. :-POn a more serious note I still think the talking point at the end of the summer will still be the inconsistency in refereeing as witnessed already in last weekend games.

Whatever about your predictions Snuf, this could possibly be the scarily accurate prediction of the year

Hawkeye was an accident waiting to happen but does not mean it can't be fixed.

Utter utter rubbish!

Kilkenny
....a beaten docket in last years LSHC Final
....a beaten docket in this years LSHC Semi-Final 'after a replay'!
....a beaten docket in this years qualifiers!

No disrespect intended in all the above to Kilkenny but Shefflin on the field or not had no bearing whatsoever on 'levelling any playing field'!!!!

You actually were wrong old man. As usual, it was human error that caused this.. not the technology!

Human Error you say!

The 'HawyEye Guy' when asked by Marty "Was it human error or technological error?" did not exactly state which and only elaborated to say "The wrong settings were used. Those for football instead of hurling"!

Hmmm, corrct me if Im wrong but can anyone please point out the differencein how a point in hurling is different to a point in football cos as far as I can see in both codes, once the ball goes over the bar and between the posts its a point.....I cannot determine any difference between the codes here!!

My guess Snuff would be that, if it was calibrated for football as they say, that it is following the trajectory of the ball and judging the distance from the post. As the ball was so close to the post then it thinks its a larger ball and couldn't have got through the gap without hitting the post and hence no score and a miss.

Sure what does it matter if it was a beach ball or a marble!.....What about rugby, where the ball has two different dimensions?.....What does it do then?
It cant have been trajectory because it quite clearly shows the trajectory of the ball going over the bar no problems!....so why would they need to introduce 'ball size' into the equation!

Let this be a lesson for all on over complicating things that dont require it!!

I know what you are saying but if its only trajectory then why have different settings for hurling and football as they alluded to. If it was only trajectory then it would have given as a point so another factor has to come in to play when it was given as a 'Miss' and the only one I can think of which would make sense (given the explanation of sorts) when it comes to calibration between the 2 codes is the size of the ball.
