What will be this years championship controversy?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Every championship year there is always something for the nation of GAA to jump on the outrage bus over from full time whistles blown up early leading to 'sit-ins', to dubious 'goals' to win provincial championships, to disputes over a blood subs length of time on the pitch, or which end of Croker a team warms up on, etc, etc!......There's just 'ALWAYS SOMETHING'!!!

My bet is that this years outrage will be over something got to do with 'HAWKEYE'!!.......I contend it is only going to be a matter of time that no matter how much they have said "it has stood up to every conceivable scenario we have tested it against" (prelude to disaster - Titanic esque) that at some stage some it will fail to register a blatantly obvious score and hence the reliability of the whole thing will be called into disrepute and it will soon find itself abandoned in an electronic pile of junk in a skip at the back of the handball alley!.....(remember the electronic e-voting machines?)!

Anyway, what do you think will be the GAA Controversy of Championchips 2013!!.....cos there's always something y'know!!

Regards,

The question asked was what will this year's controversy be.

Your scenario wouldn't be controversial.

It'd be miraculous.

1/ Someone getting a nasty pull one week and getting injured with nothing happening to the perpetrator, the media creates a furore, and the next week someone getting a red for pretty much nothing, creating a bigger media furore.

2/ Someone in the media realizing that hurling and football are completely different sports and that what happens in hurling doesn't have to have a correlation in football. The controversy comes when someone in the GAA says he agrees, and that the games should be treated differently and individually instead of as being treated as the same sport.

3/ A refereeing decision, likely perceived to be one that costs a minnow a big scalp (such a sending off when both sides are level with 10 minutes to go).

Tyrone to beat Donegal tomorrow. Then for Mayo to beat Donegal in the quarters, Tyrone in the semi and Dublin in the final; at which point people will say Mayo had a soft All Ireland. :-P
On a more serious note I still think the talking point at the end of the summer will still be the inconsistency in refereeing as witnessed already in last weekend games. The refereeing decisions in the Mayo Galway game weren't on a par to the Cavan Armagh game. This needs to be addressed ASAP.
I can also see a scenario presenting itself where Joe Brolly over steps the mark causing Pat and Colm to flip and kick the living bejasus out of him.
