Munster Football Championship 2013

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

It's very easy to have a go at Munster football but Limerick beat Longford last year and only lost to Kildare in extra time. They got to the All-Ireland 1/4 finals the year before. Tipp got to the last 12 last year beating Wexford on the way, so if they were both in Leinster or Connacht they would be much more competitive.

And freetakers attitude sums up what the footballers have to put up with in Limerick. A lot of clubs are totally against the footballers and see it as a hinderance to the hurling eventhough the hurlers have done nothing for years. Some Limerick people think we are a "hurling county" eventhough we have won only 1 All-Ireland since 1940! It's very hard to progress in that environment.

I'd say it's the same for Tipp footballers. People should wait until the qualifiers start before making any comments on how good/bad Limerick & Tipp are.

My sentiments exactly county man. We were shocking last night, but for posters to suggest that we are in as bad a position as Galway is laughable. We have beaten plenty of solid Leinster sides, so we're certainly at that level at the very least.

Very few teams would have put it up to Cork last night, let's wait for the qualifiers and see how the "weaker Munster counties" get on before we hear more lazy and uninformed diatribes.

bob_dolphin i agree with you to let the qualifiers be the judge of Tipp and Limerick as it is is being disingeneous to these counties judging them on single performances. The reason people go on about the bad place Galway are currently are at is that the general football person expects more from Galway because of their tradition, being the 3rd most successful football county in the country and our underage. I am not being arrogant when saying this just stating the facts.

The game today was very poor and one-sided. This is not Kerry's fault -it's a problem with a lop-sided championship.

In fairness why was RTE camera showing this game live today - this encounter has been shown many times in the last couple of years and all one-sided,
Now:-
All gaa fans would have loved to see the London -sligo game live - potential upset etc would have made good viewing - the Louth/Laoise or the Longford/Wicklow game also BUT in reality we all knew that Kerry would win this one.

There has been 2 many Munster Football Champ. matches shown on TV when 95% of the time we know who is going to win and win easily - who makes these decesions

Tipp and Limerick and Galway are all pure muck , its not the championships structure that is at fault for the deplorable performances of these three sides

That's pure nonsense where Limerick are concerned. Tipp were really abysmal today, but Limerick yesterday certainly put it up to Cork yesterday and matched them at times in the game. We sort of ground them down and smothered them in the end, but they could have had about four goals themselves were it not for some good blocking by the defence and some outstanding saves by Ken O'Halloran. Limerick would have given Kerry a real test if the draws had been made different.

Would the 'probable' Munster final of Kerry and Cork be held in Killarney this year??

Munster is muck?? There is only one team in Leinster that can even close to winning an All Ireland.

It's nice to have championship Sunday's back and they are only truly back when you're taking in your county's game. Tipperary were poor today but sure Kerry can only beat what's in front of them.
Not sure what the thinking is behind having the semi-final next week, only a 6 day turnaround? It's on in Killarney anyways and if Kerry get through that, if it's Cork, the final will be in Killarney as well.

Lads half of ye see one result and talk absolute nonsense. GAA in general is fighting a very hard fight with rugby. I myself play rugby and hurling and I'm not the only one in Limerick. Its all fare well being from most of the western counties where football is god. We play and love other sports. You cant win em all but hey we have 2 Lions for the tour to australia. How many do the rest of the country have? Comepetition of young mins guys. We cant all be brainwashed by Jim Mcguinness into devoting our lives to GAA

the fact that your boasting about having two lions would prove the point about rugby meaning most even clearer then anybody from outside the county could ever try and prove haha

1391454 murlo that's very ignorant of you!!limerick jus don't have the players the players try as hard, if not hardr as it must be hard to motivate yourselfs when relastically u have no chance!! the structure will have to change to a A and B possibly C competittion

Thinks thats it, the munster championship is a joke, limerick and tipp, clare and waterford are too far behind Cork and Kery and some of the criticism of tipp and limerick is not right , they are just not at that level and theres nothing that will change in the current structure.

but football is not taken seriously at all at senior club level i know first hand from being involved down there with a senior club.
most the guys are more interested in the scorelines from rugby or soccer games at half time this includes the managment team.

The Gooch was magic today, he could and probably will be very successful at 11. Anthony Maher is a very good midfielder and he doesn't get enough recognition for me - brilliant fielder of a ball, good work rate and he does the simple things well.
