Fair to say Walsh and O'Hara won't be exchanging Christmas cards this year! jimski (Kildare) - Posts: 381 - 26/05/2013 21:55:46 1392079 Link 0 |

Wow.......O'Hara fairly spelt it out.......more or less sub-par management and training, connacht final last year papering over the cracks of bad results......inferred he was more interested in the Roscommon job. Solo_Run (Leitrim) - Posts: 227 - 26/05/2013 22:04:16 1392086 Link 0 |

Ciaran Whelan is a good analyst and seems to know what he's talking about. sedico (Kildare) - Posts: 1682 - 27/05/2013 09:06:12 1392111 Link 0 |

They showed 3 and a half minutes of the Laois-Louth game. And 3 and a half minutes of poorly recorded footage of the Wicklow-Longford match which looked like a great game. icehonesty (Wexford) - Posts: 2592 - 27/05/2013 09:38:55 1392127 Link 0 |

Thought it was particularly low brow yesterday, from o Rourkes bizarre rant at Brolly just before the Tyrone/Donegal game,to Brollys elevation of Jim McGuiness to God like status (hes a football coach Joe),to Cahill constantly looking at the wrong camera when talking,to Spillane with his comments about far eastern rugs (or something like that),not to mention his customary bit about how "there are two things needed to beat the blanket defence"to Cahill,Whelan,Spillane and o hara all talking at the same time for about 20 seconds to the editor not being able to tell Colm cooper from Paddy McBrearty and so on so forth. joncarter (Galway) - Posts: 2692 - 27/05/2013 10:24:46 1392191 Link 0 |

Spillane showed last night how poor an analyst he is, trying to say how to beat the blanket defence,Kerry pushed through tipp because they were stronger and put some high balls in to donaghy ,cooper put passes out to the corner forwards, if that was against Donegal they would be hammered trying that.Cork tried last year to do what he was showing yesterday and got bet, i think its more wishful thinking on his part than actually seeing something that will overcome Donegals tactics. Yeah very poor. A total combined 8 minutes of ''Coverage'' of the 2 Leinster Championship games Louth/Laois and Wicklow/Longford. The Wicklow game looked like it was filmed on a camera phone. If the ball went high the camera couldn't capture it. Wicklowman (Wicklow) - Posts: 1161 - 27/05/2013 11:44:51 1392294 Link 0 |

Wicklowman They just clearly aren't GAA people. Any GAA man would like to see a good match, good scores, tight games. Not hammerings in Connacht and Munster. Every year they show loads of Munster and Connacht games and with an odd exception they're very poor. Leinster games, unless Dublin or Kildare are playing are skipped over. I was really looking forward to that Wicklow Longford game, it sounded brilliant. icehonesty (Wexford) - Posts: 2592 - 27/05/2013 12:05:20 1392318 Link 0 |

Well in fairness, most neutrals want to see the corks and kerrys to see how they are shaping up. I appreciate that some games might have been of higher intensity etc but you cant deny that there is a large school of interest in seeing the big teams in action also. The Master. The fact that Kerry and Tipp was shown Live earlier that day should have meant Louth/Laois and Wicklow/Longford should have been given decent coverage. Wicklowman (Wicklow) - Posts: 1161 - 27/05/2013 12:25:36 1392355 Link 0 |

Very little coverage given to both the Louth v laois, and Wicklow v Longford games, but worse of all, both games were barely analysed. You would expect that in the league, but it shows huge disrespect to all teams involved. Also on the point of the Sunday game show as a whole, Des Cahill has to be the worse presenter on TV, he sounds bored when talking about every game. Last night's Sunday game was an absolute embarrassment to GAA, RTE and television as a whole. I was pleasantly surprised at the start to see that they were putting on the London game first but that was the only positive. They hadn't even bothered to send a commentator and just had an after match voice over with about 2 minutes of action on one camera. I could excuse RTE if it was a case that this upset hadn't been coming, but it had, as Leitrim and Mayo were very lucky to get out of Ruislip with wins in recent years. To then have nothing but a skype feed from what Des Cahill described as an upstairs flat was degrading to the London players. This was then followed by a rant from Eamonn O'Hara at Kevin Walsh with no analysis whatsoever from any of the other analysts. From then to the end of the football part of the show we had brief glimpses at 2 games in Leinster and more extended looks at the annual Turkey shoots in Munster. These games were punctuated by silly comments from Spillane about Blankets, even sillier comments about the Tyrone keeper by Whelan and we had the spectacle of O'Hara listing out the MOTM candidates from the Kerry game even though the MOTM had been mistakenly revealed to be Cooper 20 minutes earlier. After that rubbish I was looking forward to the hurling session but to my utter amazement it was even worse. After a 2 minute tribute to Donal og Cusack they got down to who and what they thought would make an impression on this year's campaign. Low and behold they came up with Henry Shefflin's work rate and Brendan Maher's leadership. Did we really need 3 'experts' to tell us this? They then went on to write off Galway on the basis of a bad league campaign (where they got to a semi-final) and the very scientific fact that Galway never put 2 good years back to back, genius!! At that stage it was time to end and I think Des was happy to put that show out of its misery. Mailman98 (Galway) - Posts: 319 - 27/05/2013 12:51:47 1392391 Link 0 |
